This museum will not only be an investment to the people of Detroit, it will be an investment for the future of America. Many students are simply not interested by science and technology, this museum should foster a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, (STEM) fields in students. These students will hopefully continue to pursue this passion into college and earn a degree. STEM jobs are the backbone of this country, without them we wouldn’t have many of the modern luxuries we have today. This museum will help create the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers which will help drive the economy forward.

That leaves over half of the original funds to create exhibits and to fund student projects. I would measure success using Northwestern High School in Detroit as a baseline. Northwestern currently has a college readiness percentage of 2.9, a 12% participation rate in AP testing, an AP passing rate of 0%, 1% of students are proficient in math, and 0% of students are advanced in math. These scores are close to the district average so they are a good place to start. The current math proficiency score in this district is around 1.2/5 while the state average is 1.8/5. We would be looking for a year over year increase in all or most of these statistics. I would consider this a success if after ten years if this particular school district reaches or surpasses the state average in proficiency
