“What if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy..” -BLESSINGS, Laura Story

This life is not a perfect life. It is like a road. There are ups and downs; there are rough and smoothly cemented roads. There are traffic signs and detours. But the happiest thing in this journey of life is the time Jesus went on board and took the lead. Jesus said in John 10:10b, “I came for you to have life and have it abundantly.” This passage doesn’t assured us to have a complete happiness and joyride in our Christian life. It is because we are still in this fallen world where sins and temptations are everywhere. As it is stated in the song: “When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win, we know the pain reminds this heart that this is not our home.” Yes, it is not really our home! The very moment we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, this world is not already ours and same with the world doesn’t own us anymore. In this Christian life, we will experience pains, hurts, grief, disappointments, trials, problems and tears. Sometimes it is too much to bear, too much to endure and too much for us to hold on. Many times, because of these problems, we doubt God. We doubt His love, His faithfulness and His goodness. We questioned Him why do we have to still bear this kind of pain? Why? Why is He allowing these trials to come to us? Sometimes because our minds are full of questions, we never mind and understand what His very purpose of allowing us to experience such pain. We didn’t realize the reasons behind all those tears. We are selfishly focusing on ourselves and our own benefits so we can’t see Him beside us, passionately comforting us. We are so busy focusing on the problems around us so we can’t see

We all have had moments of tragedy and despair. It is in our darkest hour that many of us pray to God for comfort, I believe he answers our prayers when we are ready. We need to understand that asking God for material things will probably be ignored, that the greatest gifts we receive from God come from what we live and learn. For instance, my life was very difficult in many ways. I came from a home plagued by mental disease and addiction, it was a very lonely existence and I had often prayed for peace and to be loved unconditionally by another person. It did not seem like too much to want from life, however inside me grew resentment and anger. I was not ready to be loved or for a peaceful existence because I had not even loved myself. Over twenty years I lived my life angry at God for not giving me what seemed basic for most people and it consumed me to the point of near death. I saw what I had become, but now I had a child and I did not want her to feel the pain that I felt. If I did not change, it would just be repeating the vicious cycle. A very life altering decision was made and I began to heal from my past, but I still had a long journey ahead. I still felt lost and needed someone to understand. Finally I begged God to show me…

Sometimes we think that our plans must lead down a better road, or that God must not love us enough to protect us from this pain we feel, but God actually uses the painful experiences to further develop our character. Vivian Thomas could have given up when it became too discouraging, but instead he persevered and became an inspiration to many people. During times that are hard, God teaches us more about life, ourselves, and most importantly, about Him. Sometimes it is even necessary to go through a difficult time before we are able to realize the ways in which we need to grow and…

All throughout generations, humans have desired to know what to put their faith into when it appears that God is not there. To Louie Zamperini, he finds that if he does not put his trust in the Lord and does not ask to be saved, that he would surely be put to death. Through Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, pastor Billy Graham displays how impactful God is through maintaining faith and how to live that life through Him: “What God asks of men, said Graham, is faith. His Invisibility is the truest test of that faith. To know who sees him, God makes himself unseen.” (Hillenbrand 190)…

    Who Can We Trust Analysis

It seems as though many religions make us feel like we should focus on God as something unfathomable and what Williams calls a “completely alien intelligence”. We aren’t supposed to understand him, so we instead focus on what separates us, instead of the relationship that it creates. Unfortunately this doesn’t build trust between us and our Creator. Williams tells us that there are many reasons to trust God, but specifically two reasons. One is the fact that he gave us Jesus up as a sacrifice and to live on this earth. He shows us through his Son that he made it possible to see that God isn’t hiding anything form us, his purpose is unselfish love. Williams says on page 10, “At the heart of the desperate suffering there is in the world, suffering we can do nothing to resolve or remove for good. There is an indestructible energy making of for love. If we have grasped what Jesus is about, we can trust that this is what lies at the foundation of everything”. The second part is that God is complete fullness. He makes the point that anything we do will not make God love us, no amount of good or bad will change his mind or his love. God doesn’t forgive us because we’re good, but we’re good because he forgives…

Through His Word we can know our God and have thoughts about who He is. In a thoughtful desire to pursue truth there becomes a right and a wrong way of thinking about God, allowing us to discern heresy from sound theology. In his book God Talk, Randall J. VanderMey states that “close attention to Christian language— its possibilities as well as its poverties—can open the mind, reawaken wonder and strengthen faith” (VanderMey 16). It is important that we examine how prioritizing feelings over thoughts has affected our relationships with God. Instead of thinking thoughts about God and desiring to have knowledge about God, we prioritize feeling His presence and when we don’t feel His presence, we doubt His omnipresence. However, when we seek out truth about who God is—the thoughts about God that are written for us in Scripture— these thoughts about God become our thoughts, which in turn can produce feelings. How much more deep and rewarding is the feeling that we can attribute to…

As I get older, I grow and learn new things each year and as time goes on I realize that there’s not always going to be times of immeasurable joy and laughter. It’d be nice if there was but that’s not how life is. Happiness that’s present in my life is because of God and how straightforward his word is. As a christian, I know that once I’m saved, there is absolutely no one that can take that away from me. Even when I’m going through the storm, the sure promises of God carry me through. You may ask yourself, “ Why would I want to rejoice over anything when I’m going through the worst of times?” Well, when you take time to realize what’s around you, you come to find that you are truly blessed. Everyone that is in my school and church all have supportive families and christian families. None of us have to deal with communism and we’re free to pick our religion. Nevertheless, some of still choose to complain and be discontent with what we have. The Bible says “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God” also, God reveals that suffering carries with it a noble purpose: It should help us to grow in brotherly love, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians6:2) I think that when we support each other through suffering we form closer relationships. I believe that suffering is a part of life that needs to be embraced and that for me, I find comfort in knowing God allows suffering to serve a divine purpose. When we return to God it will bring an end to sadness and suffering. I suffer every day with anxiety. It makes me a better person because I know what it’s like to suffer, and because I suffer, I am a more compassionate person to others. I go out of my way to try to lift others in spirit because I know what it feels like to be down. I try to be a wonderful friend because I know how shortcoming in friends can be a letdown, and how having a good friend has kept me safe on bad days. I think sometimes when people don’t suffer they become self-centered and think they are above others. I think it is often when we suffer that we are drawn closer to our families and given a reality check. Suffering helps us to fulfill our potential as children of God (1John…

All over the world, millions of people are suffering daily. Unfortunately, many of them do not know Christ and/or don’t have a way to get to know Him. The fortunate few are able to pray and believe that God will help them get through their sufferings and that He knows what His best for them. They know that God has a plan for them and they should trust in Him with all of their needs. Unfortunately, some of those who don’t know God have resorted to taking their own lives because they felt like there was no one listening to them. In the Great Depression, so many people felt like no one was listening to them or hearing them and felt like they needed to die. In World War I and World War II, families started to become depressed when their family…
