Metropolitan Museum Experience
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, known to be a sanctuary for a great collection of art, was brimming with tourists and locals when I decided to visit with my friend and my mother. However, looking back on my experience, visiting such a place is something you should do alone because it allows you to appreciate all of the pieces of art without the limitations of bringing someone along with you. I titled this “A Vacation in the Metropolitan Museum of Art” because although we only stayed for a few hours, it seemed as though we were traveling from one region or time to another We headed first to the Greek and Roman Art section. There were many naturalistic sculptures that were fascinating because of how differently the people or gods of that time were portrayed. The nudity of the sculptures should have been repulsive but I realized that the artists were just portraying humans in a new, contrasting way from what I am used to. I tried to accept and comprehend the art because I remembered your lesson on how …show more content…
I think it is because I am an amateur artist and art critique that I failed to understand fully the message behind the works of art. There was a majority of uninterpretable pieces of art which really made me feel inferior and uninterested. The color combinations were eccentric and the bold, sharp lines looked nothing like the real world. I was at a loss. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must-see if one lives in or is visiting New York. It is for all ages and types of people. Honestly, I was expecting the visit to be euphoric which was too high of an expectation. However, the museum was very interesting and mentally challenging. The pieces of art were beautiful and complicated which made it pleasing for me to just observe them. This was my first visit to the Metropolitan and I am not disappointed at all. I do hope to go back there once this class has ended to see what I have

I took my twelve year old son with me to explore what the museum had to offer. We found the art to be very interesting, educational and unique. There were so many beautiful pieces throughout the museum that it was difficult trying to decide which one I wanted to base my visual analysis on.…

The SFCC student exhibit was my favorite. The painting in this exhibit just had me so amazed. I even told my wife if I had the money I would purchase multiple works of art from that exhibit. The colors and blending were really nice and attracted me to them. The paintings were calming to and the ceramics and sculptures were see detailed which got your attention.…

I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art on April 8th, a beautiful and sunny day. Being around the museum conjured a sense of nostalgia to my middle school days when I took a field trip to the museum. Since that last visit I have gained a better understanding about art and what goes into every piece of work. I have also gained more experience, back then I did not know how to shade properly and did not know a thing about composition. Now, I have a greater appreciation for every stroke of a brush and color applied. The reason I chose the North Carolina Museum of Art was solely to re-experience the art with my new artistic eye. While walking through the museum, I searched for that one piece of art that would catch my eye and inspire me to talk…

Although all the art exhibits were simply amazing the one that stood out the most to be was Where the Fate Leads Us by Brenda Atwood Pinardi and Candance Walters. I feel as if this one caught my eye for a numerous of reasons, one being that it was the most original one there in my opinion. This art was not like the simple oil and pastel painting I was expecting to see; instead it was actual material constructed together to give off a certain message to those who viewed it.…

For the art project in this class, I visited The Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is located at the west end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. It is one of the most outstanding and largest museums of Art in United States. It was founded in 1876 in conjunction with the Centennial Exposition. This museum is basically formed and grew out of the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. Originally, this museum was a collection of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art. Collectively, this is now known as the "The Art Museum." The museum is about 121 years old, and it first opened its doors to the public of the United States back in 1877.…

My experience at the Museum of Contemporary Photography was great. The museum consisted of three different levels that were available for viewing. The first level had a receptionist area to the left as you first walk in. They want you to check your things in if you have items with you so that you don’t destroy any of the art. The lighting was pretty favorable for viewing the photographs. The one thing that stood out was that the photographs varied in sizes. They had a few photos that were smaller, and then they had others that really stood out in size. The first floor has this huge open floor plan, which is great. I liked the wood floors that they had throughout the museum. Continuing on the first floor, you can walk through one of two doorways to get to another gallery area. This is pretty much it for the first floor.…

The location I chose for my ethnographic essay was The Museum of Modern Art, commonly known as the MoMA. I traveled to the museum on Saturday, March 6th, 2017 and arrived at 3:11 pm. Surprisingly this museum was quite small at least in comparison to the grand museums I’ve visited in the past. The exhibit that I focused on was their ongoing collection gallery that displayed art from the 1880’s through the 1950’s. I chose this particular exhibit because whilst walking through the museum that this was by far the MoMA’s most lively area. The entire exhibit consisted of four different rooms, each displaying at least one iconic work of art along with other not as well known, yet mesmerizing, works of art. As for the demographic of the museum’s attendees…

Last week I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in the big apple. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be like since it was my first time going there. The museum was enormous with lots of art works from different locations around the world. My main focus was the Japanese arts, which was very fascinating. As I explored the room with the Japanese arts, I’ve stumbled upon a Buddha like figure sitting right beyond the door of the room. It was called Kaikei, Fudo Myoo from the early 13th century which was found on the right side of the figure. One thing that stood out to me was its facial expression. I’m guessing the crafter that created it made the figure angry and serious looking in order to show its authority or that it’s an important…

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has one of the finest Asian art collections that has enlightened and strengthened my understanding in my personal art experience. The Museum itself is an artistic architectural structure that graces the entire block on 82nd Street in Manhattan. Entering inside, I sensed myself going back into an era, into a past where people traded ideas and learned from each other. It is a past, where I still find their works of yesteryears vividly within my grasp, to be remembered and shared as if their reflections of works were cast for the modern devoted learner.…

I've seen plenty of art throughout my life, whether it be in person or just through the internet but I've never actually observed and taken notes. Art has always been one of those things I always thought I wouldn't really understand. As a kid, I always wanted to draw but I soon realized how awful my cartoons were and gave up drawing, I did not really think art was for me. Viewing the Unorthodox exhibit at the Jewish museum was one of the first times I actually went to just observe art rather than look and move on. It was a great experience, I really liked all of the artworks but there were three from the exhibit that really stood out to me. The first of which was called “Ten Works: Jug Heads” by Clayton Bailey, then “Hell on Earth” by Leang…
