The government uses the properties it acquires to build some things like buildings, highways, and railroads. More than sixty percent of the land that the border covers is either private or state owned, the rest of the land is owned either by the federal government or Native American tribes. In the past years the government has been successful in obtaining the land they want, but recently local governments and citizens have put a lot of resistance. This has created a lot of problems that cause logistical nightmares. The people that will be affected the most by trump’s wall are the ranchers of Texas and the Indian tribes. The ranchers depend on access to the Rio Grande and the pastures to feed their animals. Part of the border in Arizona is home to the Tohono O’odham Reservation, the third largest one by area in the United States. In 1853 the US in the Gadsden Treaty payed Mexico ten million for the territory that is now the reservation.
