Mexico Paper In Mexico there is very little work. The work that is there has very little pay. Death in the Desert showed a young man and his brother and cousin going to the U.S. to find work to help pay for their family. Men in Mexico will come to the U.S. illegally during the months of March September. Then they would raise money to take back to help the families. But their journey to the U.S is very dangerous. First they have to cross the desert in extreme heat and have very little water to get through the whole way. Then they have to find work in the U.S and risk being deported back to the U.S. Family is very important in Mexico. The entire family usually lives together under one roof. In Death in the Desert it said that the oldest is the favorite because they are the first and most important. The oldest son is the one that helps support his family, but in the video since the oldest died the father had to take care of the widow and his grandchildren. Mexican families depend more on families than they do with friends. They consult their family members on matters of health, illness and treatment (Diversity, Oppression, and Social Functioning; George A. Appleby) the family is usually patriarchal and looks at the male head of family with great power and responsibility. About 6 percent are protestant with other religious denominations including Presbyterians, Jehovah Witnesses, Seventh-Day Adventists, Mormons, Lutherans, Methodists, Baptists and Anglicans (http://www.livescience.com/38647-mexican-culture.html). Some people in Mexico also practice Buddhism, Judaism, and Islamic. Mexico is the largest Spanish speaking language country in the world.
