Internal and External Factors
Many internal and external factors affect the four functions of management; the process of working with individuals and resources to accomplish goals is complicated and forever changing. Effective managers are able to find a balance between planning, organizing, leading and controlling (Bateman, & Snell, 2011). The four functions are the fundamentals that are needed in order for a business to be successful. A manager should be able to adapt to changes that may be internal and external factors such as globalization, technology, innovation, diversity and ethics.
Technology is a field that is constantly changing. Managers plan and organize goals through the use of a PC’s, laptop or I-Pad and they use numerous soft-wares to obtain the information needed to move forward. Without incorporating technology into strategies a good manager cannot effectively plan and then organize to reach a goal. If the company’s goal is to enter a new market how would a manager accomplish it without technology? Without technology a manager could not correspond with vendors in different locations, research the market place they are trying to get establish in and establishing a competitive edge. The behavior, duty, rights, and responsibility of a manager affects the style he or she will use to lead his or her employees (McNamee, 1992). A manager who is tested on his or her ethics and leans towards more unethical behavior will have their employees question the leadership of a company or make the unethical decisions. The ability to motivate employees to achieve a goal and plan and organize the strategy is important stages. Resolving ethical problems includes the function of planning and organizing how these problems will be reported out and to
