Microaggressions In The Workplace
many researchers note that gender discrimination is not disappearing but is instead becoming more subtle and ambiguous.
There is a great manifestations of prejudice ranging from subtle to overt, There was research conducted on Gender Microaggressions in the Workplace
The research included Undergraduate women and men,they “read vignettes describing interactions between male supervisors and female subordinates, which portrayed potentially discriminatory supervisor behavior, ranging in explicitness from subtle to blatant. Results indicate that although both men and women perceive differences in microaggression explicitness, women tend to detect greater discrimination than men, particularly when instances are subtle in nature. Both genders

Minority women call it a “double jeopardy” because they are harassed based on being a woman and being a minority, which both come with prejudice. Not only is being a minority woman an issue with harassment, but they are also paid much lower than even just a white woman. The research has four hypotheses; the first being that minority women are harassed more in the workplace, and the second being that there is no relationship between a minority woman and the amount of harassment that they face in the workplace. The third hypothesis is that minority woman, as opposed to white women, are harassed more, and the fourth is that women in general are harassed more in the workplace. The study done in this research was a survey that was sent out to 800 people of different male-dominated and female-dominated corporations. The survey measured different types of harassment, as in sexual, ethnic, and overall. One of the main control variables in this study was the dominant sex of the company. As a result, almost half of the responders reported having been harassed in the workplace, whether ethnically or sexually.     The impact of discrimination against women and their pay entitlements has been, without debate, proven by many polls and research efforts. According to an article published in The Wall Street Journal that conducted a poll discussing gender in workplace bias, “84% of women say men are paid more for similar work, a view borne out by government data but which draws agreement from only two-thirds of men. More than four in 10 women say they have faced gender discrimination personally, most often in the workplace” (Nelson). The article further expounds to address very specific data. Some of that data was collected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. “The Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that women who work full-time earn 79% of the weekly pay that men bring home.     Women have experienced a historic situation of inequality in the social as well as professional aspects. Women are normally the ones that would take care of the children, do the household chores, and in rural areas; they would work in the field with the rest of the family. Just like how the Breaking Barriers article states, “from an early age, girls are dressed in pink boys in blue.
