With that being said, New Paltz middle school has an excellent learning environment. Although the white walls created some skepticism; the bare walls lacked the enthusiasm expected from a middle school. However, the students and faculty seemed to paint the walls with their energy and passion during the passing period. The hallways came alive. They seemed to be genuinely happy in these surroundings. The kids talked to their friends, and they were eager to get to their class. The classrooms, on the other hand, were decorated with posters and items pertaining to the class. While the walls were decorated with artwork, the tone, or mood, of the school made the place seem dreary. An enormous reason for this was the principal, who would only leave her office in order to yell at students. As one can imagine, the kids were not fond of the principal. They would often mock her voice when she came on the loud speaker. Her vigilance made my classmates more willing to act out, and was counteractive. This created a harsh, or uncomfortable learning environment. Children feared the principal’s punishments, and I believe a student should never feel fear in a learning environment. Therefore, unfortunately, we did not enjoy waking up every morning to go to school. Overall, I believe this showed in the schools
