Story: The main plot of Middlemarch, is, as the title says, a fictional world that represents the provincial life. But, as the provincial life is such a big topic, there are several plots that stand for different themes and that are represented for different characters. Some of these themes are marriage, love, money and social acceptation, themes that are connected between them as the conflict of not being able to get everything and the importance of establishing priorities. And to reflect those themes there are the stories of Dorothea Brooke, Tertius Lydgate, Mr. Bulstrode, Will Ladislaw, Mr. Casaubon, The Vincy family, among others.
The main events: * Dorothea marring Mr. Casaubon against everyone’s opinions * Honey moon: realization that marriage wasn’t fulfilling their expectations * Lydgate in Middlemarch accepting the hospital of Mr. Bulstrode * Advance in Lydgates’s career. Lydgate proposes to Rosamond * Casaubon death and his inheritance clauses * Bulstrode’s past is revealed and he’s accused of killing a man * Lydgate gets in debt. Dorothea Brooke: She represents the release hero, who’s able to stand up for what she desires and to contradict what is meant to be in order to satisfy what she desires. She’s a devotional, intelligent, and helping woman. She represents also the maturity in the novel.
Mr. Brooke: He represents the undecided positions and the need to satisfy everyone.
Celia Brooke: She also stands for a superficial woman, but more submissive and less manipulative than Rosamond. She marries Sir James Chettam.
Edward Casaubon: He represents the vain and hypocrite man that pretends to be cult and devote but that only expects in a woman a servant.
Will Ladislaw: He represents a romantic person, as he is an idealist, independent and a true outsider that doesn’t
