Midwifery Personal Statement

I chose this profession because of how rewarding it will be once I qualify. It's really good to care for people. That's something that I've always loved to do, looking after people. I know, going into midwifery, that the outcome will not always a be a good one, but I believe I have the emotional level of maturity to deal with the highs and lows of it. I have a caring nature to do the job. Communication is key to being a midwife. I will be able to communicate with the women, to reassure them. I have demonstrated compassion and the ability to provide emotional support to those who need it during hard times, while showing courage and bravery when I supported my sister through her loss of a child at birth.
I commit myself 100% to anything that I do. And I know midwifery requires utmost commitment because the women, as well as colleagues will be relying on me to be committed, to provide good care.
I know that providing good customer service is useful in Midwifery because at the heart of this profession is the need to make sure the woman is always satisfied with the care she receives. Being a mum is the best thing in the world, and to be able to support other women through this journey is equally special and just as rewarding. My work as an entry clearance office gave me valuable experience in working with people from different backgrounds and the importance of respecting people's dignity. I often had to reassure applicants who were anxious about visa interviews they were about to undergo, while also sometimes having to deliver the bad news of an unsuccessful visa application.
