Miss Brill Loneliness

“We sometimes think we want to disappear, but all we really want is to be found.” -Unknown. Miss Brill wants to be found but cannot because she is hallucinating if what really goes on at the places she goes to. In the story, “Miss Brill” by Katherine Mansfield expresses the dealt of people’s loneliness by creating hallucinations to avoid reality, she observes people and she wants the glamorous life.
Miss Brill is a people watcher, she likes to observe the lives of others and what they go through. Miss Brill usually goes to the park, “There were a number of people out this afternoon, far more than last Sunday.” (268). She goes to the park and observes the people. She notices her environment and what goes on around her when she goes out. Miss Brill notices they are a lot of people because she is a people watcher. When Miss Brill was
She was “glad that she decided on her fur” (267). She takes good care of her things and loves to wear nice accessories with her having nice things it makes her feel glorious and makes her feel good. While walking home, she “usually bought a slice of honey cake at the baker’s”(271). She had a routine to go to the bakers at the end of the day. She did not buy one because maybe she did not like the way the boy and the girl were talking about her. She realized this is not real and what the boy and the girl talked about was to show she is in reality and her dream did not come true. She realized she is not an actress and probably would not ever be. When she went home, “ But when she put the lid on she thought she heard something crying” (272). What she heard crying was herself in a younger version, she is crying because she did not fulfill what she wanted to do. She wanted to be an actress and have a glorious life. She was crying because she put away her dreams to become what she wanted. She had to grow up and that meant to put away her fantasy of her
