Mistakes: Mother and Barbie Dolls
Mistakes Are Life's Lessons

Humans are meant to make mistakes. We can’t deny the fact the each of us committed mistakes. Mistakes is defined when you did something wrong that can violate others and most especially ourselves. These mistakes can affect other’s life and also our life. Once you did it, there is no turning back.

For about 16 years of existence, I already did many mistakes. Among those mistakes, there are three that surely affected my life. One of those is mistake is all about envy. Way back when I was in grade three, all my classmates do have their Barbie dolls yet I don’t have one. Because of envy, I get some money from my mother’s bag and then I bought one. My mother scolded me and she never gave me a toy again. After this incident, I realized that everything you want, you should work on it.Never do something bad just to get what you want. We can’t have what we want or need if we don’t have the courage to work hard for it. The second mistake I’ve done has something to do with responsibility. When I was in grade six,my teacher assigned me to photocopy our drills for Monday. I was so busy playing computer games during that weekend that I forgot to photocopy our drills. My teacher and classmates was so disappointed to me. After that, I’ve learned that every responsibility of us is a part of a whole. If we didn’t execute our responsibilities well, many will suffer. I’ve learned to be a responsible citizen. The last mistake I’ve done is about trust. During my 4th year high school days, my friends and I are fun of going to mall. One time, we’ve decided to watch Pyro Olympics at Mall of Asia. I was afraid that my parents will not allow me to go so I lied to them. I said that it’s my friend’s birthday and I’ll be back around 9 p.m. I didn’t notice the time and also my cell phone. It’s about 10 p.m. and I almost missed 10 calls from my mom. Because of the heavy traffic, I returned home for about 11:30 p.m. I told the truth to my mother and she was so

Through the mistakes people make, I learn life's most valuable lessons. My friends understood my philosophy but they saw me as soulless for seeing people’s mistakes as good. As a child, I watched the mistakes my relatives made within their families, which caused their children to be taken into custody. Although I felt sorry for the family at the time, I made sure I used their mistakes to direct my path. I never would want my family to be at a continuous feud. To me, not making mistakes is the biggest mistake one can make. My parents, especially, made many errors that resulted in them not being as successful. Therefore, I dream to obtain a profitable career and live an accomplished life so I won't encounter the same potholes people around me fell…

The theme of the poem, “Barbie Doll,” by Marge Piercy is the overwhelming pressure society exerts on females to be stereotypically attractive and the willingness to go to great lengths in order to achieve “perfection.” Many females, especially teenagers, are faced with this feeling every day. Growing up during the age of advanced computer technology and social media only exacerbates this problem. Many adolescent girls can relate to the fear of being bullied because they do not fit into the category of what is considered culturally beautiful. Marge Piercy uses her intense word choice to evoke emotion in readers about feminism, as well as the everyday struggle girls encounter trying to live up to society’s standards of…
