Kingsford Charcoal is one of the major players in the charcoal grilling industry. As a $350 million business, it represents one of the largest product groups of Clorox company portfolio. It accounts for approximately 9% of its revenue and a significantly higher percentage of its net income. After enjoying a period of moderate but steady revenue growth of 1%-3% that extended for nearly 20 years, Kingsford Charcoal is now facing a possible declining growth trend and difficulty in achieving its forecasted sales due to a softening in the overall charcoal category. Although Kingsford holds more than half of the industry market share, it is operating in a price sensitive market that is slowly shifting towards gas grilling. Faced with such a situation and with a lack of advertising, critical strategic decisions need to be made regarding whether to increase prices, revise the marketing strategy, and consequently provide an answer to potential production capacity issues. After careful analysis, it is recommended that the company implements a strategy that constitutes a hybrid of a small 2.5% price increase combined with an aggressive advertising and promotion strategy. The company should also begin the process of planning to increase capacity through the development of a new facility.…

As a young business in the airlines industry, Southwest Airlines in the initial years confronted very tough situations, and it was due proper planning and with the assistance of its employees that kept Southwest Airlines afloat from sinking. There were already pioneer big companies well established in the airlines industry when Southwest Airlines joined the industry. Medicare part A is the hospital insurance and it will pay your mother's hospital bill one hundred percent because she has met the three day minimum hospital stay criteria. That cost will include room and board and services such as lab work, any therapy she may have received during her stay as well as pharmacy. Since your mother also has Medicare part B which is the medical insurance, part B will pay eighty percent of the physician’s services as long as her annual deductable has been paid. Unless your mom has supplemental insurance coverage also known as Medigap insurance, she will be financially responsible for the twenty percent that part B Medicare does not cover. A Medicare supplement referred to as (Medigap) insurance, sold by private insurance companies, can help pay some of the costs that Medicare doesn't cover. Medicare.gov[11/04/12]www.medicare.gov/supplement-other-insurance/medigap/whatsmedigap.htm. A couple of examples of Medigap insurance companies are AARP, Humana, and Agis. Keep in mind that premium will be in addition to the monthly Part B premium that you pay to Medicare. In order to qualify you must have Medicare part A and B. That maybe something you and your mother may want to look into.…

Two strategies that enable a nurse on an interdisciplinary team to exert leadership without occupying a formal leadership position are to be a role model and to be an advocate/problem solver. The nurse can be a role model for the interdisciplinary team by showing respect for other team members, having effective communication skills and to accept others input in a fair and unbiased fashion. Often there can be tension among team members and a nurse can lead the team away from negative comments by redirecting the conversation to stay on task at hand. The nurse can explain that every person of the interdisciplinary team plays a role and that no one is more important than the other. The nurse can remain positive when people complain and show leadership by not “joining in” on the negativity and this will show leadership by keeping a positive attitude and one may be able to redirect team members. The nurse maybe able to “help develop team principles of respect, cooperation, commitment, and a willingness to accomplish shared goals.” (Cherry, 2011) The nurse can also show leadership by being an advocate for staff, by helping them learn new techniques and finding answers to the questions that arise.
