and accept it as truth. Our culture views the Christian gospel through a secular worldview. I have heard some secularists say that the word of God is just “false advertising”. Others claim Christianity is a bunch of stuck up people who judge everyone. There are many claims as to why people don’t want to accept Jesus, but most of them are empty logical fallacies.

According to our book, there are four specific categories of why people may reject Christ. There are those who have heard the gospel but reject it, those who grew up in a different religion, those who follow another religion, and lastly those who have responded to God’s general revelation and choose to accept him. Three of these views impose moral dilemmas, if you heard of God but choose to reject him then I would venture to say you have been burned by a church or have suffered from some sort of devastation in your life. For those who have a different religion or were born into one it’s obvious why it would be a moral dilemma to leave your current faith. It would be like someone telling us to leave Christianity and follow their religion even though we have been raised Christians our entire lives. Thankfully, the Bible is such a compelling story with amazing truths and historically accurate information that it has no …show more content…
competition.
3. Some emotional reasons people may reject Christ is because of the cruelty they have suffered from the broken world, such as abuse, neglect, or the loss of a loved one. There are many other reasons such as pride or the loss of control that may turn people away from God. Ultimately, if you have allowed your heart to be hardened by the world then it’s going to be tough to accept God. Some emotions such as grief, bitterness, anger, and pride can cause a person to reject God. Burying a child for instance could cause a ton of negative emotions towards God. At times when life is too overwhelming people may choose to walk away from God and search for worldly things to fill the empty gap in their heart.
4. Intellectuals who reject the gospel most likely only believe in science driven facts. If they can’t prove the miracles that Jesus performed then they most likely reject them. Intellectuals need facts, physical evidence, and measurable data to believe something to be true. Most intellects will ignore the supernatural because it cannot be replicated or studied. They believe the Bible to be irrelevant and outdated. They most likely believe its authors are nut jobs.

As Christians, we are called to be a light for Christ. We are the image of God walking this earth. We need to know the Bible and what it stands for so that we may defend it thoroughly. We need to be able to share our personal story with others as a testament of Gods goodness and how we came to know and love him. 1 peter 3:15 states, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” We all need to know why we believe in Christ and be able to share the message of his love with a broken world. We need to be the hands and feet of Christ and carry his love through or actions and words wherever we go. We will be without reproach when we live as true followers of Christ. People will no longer call us crazy or fake when we begin to truly reflect
Jesus.
