Monologue Lord Of The Flies
Mr. Williams is frantically reeling around the classroom like a fool searching for a piece of scrap paper to record votes on. It is one minute from the end of class so he must elect a new leader of the choirboys today, and I know I will triumph over the other peasants. After all I have threatened each and every one of them, so there is no way I will not prevail.
I was snatched from the island months ago and returned to my family. Although on the boat ride home the others’ faces displayed hope, in my heart sat bitterness. I held the most power anyone my age has seen in years, and I let incompetent Ralph steal it from me.
Now, I am treated equally as the other mongrels. They believe it is not important to call me chief, they believe they are equal to me, but it is

Williams has finally found a strip of paper after what seems like a lifetime. What an unqualified waste of time, but his shortcomings will not ruin my moment of redemption. He says, “Ok class, who wants to be considered for the job of leading the choir club?” I raise my hand confidently, and see that intimidation has trounced my peers as there are no others. Wait, a weakling in the back row named Luke, slowly but surely raises his hand as well.
“So only the two of you want to, well that’s fine. Now class, who wishes for Luke to become the president?” Silence befalls the room as my victory solidifies.
I learned back on the island that when you want something, you must take it for yourself. Tolerating Ralph and his incapabilities as leader brought me nothing on the island. Only once I took his followers for my own did I truly realize the perks of holding power. Now I have another chance to take, and I will not waste it.
Suddenly, a solitary hand in the center of the class rises voting for Luke. A foolish move, this person is merely a lone gazelle attempting to fight the lion, and the lion will slit its throat. But I see another rising hand, and another, until all the gazelles stand strong against

He did not like that Jack and his gang would much rather hunt than do their assigned jobs. The only way for the island can run smoothly is if everyone does their part. Ralph states at a meeting “You hunters! You can laugh! But I tell you the smoke is more important than the pig, however often you kill one.” (81) and You could have had everyone when the shelters were finished. But you had to hunt---- (81). Ralph lets the hunters know that they are no better than the other members of the island. At the assembly reminded all the islanders that one of the first priorities that they all agreed on became less important over time, Ralph said “We all built the first one, four of us the second one, and me ‘n Simon built the last one over there.”…

    2. Golding introduces the choir in the first chapter; he does this by having Ralph blow on the conch so the boys in the choir come to look what it was. Golding first introduces the boys in a creative manner. He introduces them as a creature. “With the diamond haze of the beach, something dark was fumbling along.” Page 26, Chapter 1. This introduction as a dark creature foreshadows the darkness that the choir will boast further along in the story line. Golding then introduces them as a group, all wearing the same attire, all following the choir leader, Jack Merridew.…

The novel is much better than the movie. The novel is more interesting than the movie as there was a lot of description, which was used in the right places. It was easier to read the novel. The description in the novel was very detailed which was gross but it is not as bad as seeing pigs getting slaughtered visually in the movie. It was cruel and horrendous when they killed the pig so badly. Although the novel and the movie had the same plot there were many differences in-between. A few major differences seen in the movie was the shattering of the conch, the captain/pilots presence and Ralph’s attitude towards Piggy. The movie had many things missing in it such as personality traits and some characters. Even though they had to make the movie shorter but they have taken out some of the most important things stated in the novel. These reasons made the novel more enjoyable than the movie. In the novel the author had stated various times that there were no adults at all, therefore the boys were alone and had to fend for themselves. Though in the movie there was an adult, the captain/pilot which didn’t really make sense as it was totally different in the novel. The way the movie presents the characters, meaning the way they look and talk has basically no resemblance to the novels apart from piggy, ralph and the twins. The hunters were more vicious and cruel in the movie than the novel which was very bad to watch. In the novel it looked like that piggy and Ralph had not known each other at all and Ralph mocked Piggy a lot although in the movie they were best friends and confided in each other. There were many similarities to the novel but they were approached in a completely different aspect. The novel is much better than the movie due to all these reasons said above.…

What does it take for a group of civilized boys to be turned into inhumane, bloodthirsty savages? In William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies, Jack is able to exploit the innermost evil in others through the means of psychological manipulation. With these tactics, he gains the support of his newfound tribe, and chaos breaks out on the island as a result. Jack manipulates the boys and turns them into a supportive tribe of savages by defying the conch, giving them the thrill of hunting, and using their fear of the beast against them.…

Life and people are full of diversity and courage; however, the unknown can make young vulnerable minds similar and fearful in their reactions. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, a group of once, young civilized English boys’ become fearful of an imagined beast. They fear a beast because of what they have let their imagination produce. Humans fear what is unknown. Piggy, Ralph and Jack are all uncertain as whether a beast really existed, and all showed signs of fear. Simon, on the other hand, knew the beast was all in their heads therefore he had nothing to be afraid of. As Piggy, Ralph and Jack are all sceptical, Simon remains true to his beliefs. Lord of the flies has been called “a fable in which the characters are symbols for abstract ideas,” and there are many ways in which the characters can be viewed. One way, for instance, is comparing them to Sigmund Freud’s theory of id, ego, and superego: the boys being like a metaphorical person, where Jack is the id, Ralph the ego, and Piggy the superego. It is an appropriate allegation because of the fact that id, ego, and superego all have specific traits that match those of these three characters.…

I eventually broke through the jungle onto a beach to find myself among other kids and kiddies some of which I recognized. We made our way towards the source of the booming noise, a boy who was well built like a boxer or wrestler. The boy carried himself in a stately fashion. Perhaps, the object he was carrying, which was the source of the noise, made him seem adult-like. All of a sudden a blob of black appeared at a great distance moving towards us, and slowly, the blob formed into a brood of choirboys. The leader, named Jack, commanded his group to stand still until one of the boys became knackered and collapsed. It was here where Jack allowed them the clemency to sit on their bums. Following this, we voted on who should be our leader, like Winston Churchill. Most of the other boys and I voted for Ralph, while all the choirboys voted for Jack. Ralph ended up getting voted as our…
