At the State of the Union Address , on January 29, 1991, president George Bush, spoke of, “a new world order,” where all nations work together towards a common goal of, “peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law” (Peters and Wooley). This plan of controlling every facet of humanity to enable a false sense of security and peace, and people have lost their sense of real freedom to vanity and gluttony. In my opinion, McDonaldization/ Capitalism is the main weapon used to bring about this change. Now, I do agree with Capitalism in theory and feel like some have benefited through noble methods, but fair market capitalism differs from the system practiced by these global monopolies. For example, some famous actress or actor decide to endorse smoking, next thing you know movies, magazines, and many people start this habit. This habit becomes accepted by society. This society which has spread the McDonalization globally, and these businesses have invested much, so they could never allow any type of DeMcDonaldization. On the other hand, these companies will adapt their business model to better fit their demographic. Those corporations like Starbucks serve a different demographic than McDonalds or Taco Bell, and prices and environment also plays in the customer base. Therefore, these trend setters share the geography, but different customers. One offers quick in and out dinning for a marginal price, and others offer a calm setting to enjoy your expensive coffee.
