Is winning always a win? will not this time. “The Lottery” takes place in a small village that has a weird way of doing things. Many people call this village there home but two of the residents stand out to me. Mr. Summers and Old man Warner were both men that supported the lottery. Mr. Summers was a man of many talents he was always working anything he could gets his hands on. With no kids and a wife that he would rather stay away from because of her attitude he has plenty of time for any project he fills he would enjoy to do. Mr. Summers runs the coal plant. Summers is like an upper class citizen he wears nice clothes and owns a business of his own. Mr. Summers is in charge of the lottery but he must also take part in it. Mr. Summers has many jobs to do in the town he is apart of a lot of the town's activities. Mr. summers is never home always in a rush. Old man Warner is the oldest living person in town he has survived 77 lottery's. Old man Warner is not happy with change he likes good old traditions. He has no family and no jobs he is very alone. He thinks if they quit the lottery the crops would dry up and no longer grow. Old man Warner feels change is for fools. Mr. Summers and Old man Warner are the same in a way. They both believe that the lottery is important and must be done. On the other hand they are very different from each other. Mr. Summers likes to be involved in everything he can.
