In Shakespeare's work, Brutus says this after being threatened by government corrupted Cassius. Brutus has no fear of the threat because he knows he is right and that if he dies, there are other people who will support his cause and avenge him. In Fahrenheit 451, Beatty believes that the government should have the right to control its people and he would be avenged because he was speaking the truth. Hence, he is not scared of Montag even though Montag could murder him with a flick of a switch. This quote, coming from Beatty is ironic since throughout the novel, Ray Bradbury had supported books so it seems more fitting if Montag said this instead since there are many other people that would fight to bring back knowledge and wisdom to the
