The article “5 Arguments For and Against the Death Penalty,” points out that if a felon takes a life then the only punishment severe enough would be to take that criminals life as well. In other words, his live is the most valuable item he owns and should be taken from him. Despite that the assassination of Montresor would not be the fittest punishment because the murderer is not being truly be punished, for they are not living a life in “despair about their lack of freedom,” as the article also states.
