Morlocks and Eloi In the story “The Time Machine” the author uses Charles Darwin’s work about natural selection throughout the book. When he travels, he travels to the year A.D. 802,701 where he encounters the childlike specimen called the Eloi. Now the Eloi live in small communities with elaborate and futuristic buildings, but unfortunately the buildings are in poor condition. The Eloi are represented as the wealthy class in their society, but they aren’t the only community where they reside. The Morlocks also reside alongside the Eloi as well.

The Eloi are portrayed as childlike creatures that are small and dainty, but also disengaged mentally and lazy. Where they reside they don’t have to think very much and they are sheltered. They exemplify
