Grant Wiggins, the protagonist African-American main character in A Lesson Before Dying, has a tone that develops dramatically beginning with his initial malleable attitude, developing into serious intrigue in formerly-charged-to-death inmate, Jefferson. Motivation is important for student success because that is what keeps us going in our quest for greater knowledge. If somebody had to sit for 8 hours a day and read a stack of books in front of him or her every day, but was not told which book to read, or why they had to read them it would not make a lot of sense. The person who had to read the books maybe would look at the titles and perhaps even read one of them, but boredom would set in. That is where motivation comes in.…

The United States Constitution allows for some form of capital Punishment. Under the eighth Amendment no person shall and ever will be deprived of life without due process of the law. Over the past few centuries the words cruel and unusual punishment have changed. When legislators created the Eighth Amendment, they did this for no criminal to be treated as wrong as they treated their victim. The United States Constitution allows us to interpret that a man can be executed, but in the most humane possible. According to the article “ The Death Penalty Does Not Violate The U.S Constitution.” It says “The US Constitution specifically allows for the death penalty to be imposed as a criminal sanction, and democratically elected legislatures—not court…
Obviously, students always assume that motivation comes from getting good grades, but there more then just that. Many students find success by not visualizing on the success. If a student visualizes too much on the success, one starts to make mistakes, starts making heading in the wrong direction. When one starts to visualize to much on the success one usually…
Normally college freshman are taking courses that aren’t focused on their major. Most freshman feel that these courses are really boring and a waste of time. Right now I am struggling in my history class because it is something I am not interested in. It is important for college students to be motivated in their work. “The students who succeed will need to be self-motivated.”(“Breakthrough Learning”). I believe freshman have trouble getting up, going to class, studying, and making deadlines because aren’t motivated. Personally there are times I struggle because there is no one to remind to study or work on assignments. I now have the freedom to do my own thing in college. College freshman are also far away from the finish line, so they aren’t as motivated as seniors. Because their vision of graduation is so blurry, freshman will more likely go left than right. If college freshman don’t change, they could possibly fail or even drop out. According to nurse practioner, Sandra Halburner says, “Although, if you do begin to notice that your quality of life is starting to crumble-such as lower grades or sleep loss-that’s a huge sign to that it’s time to make a change.”(Halburner). It’s safe to assume that if a student doesn’t prepare themselves for the next exam or finish their assignments, they will receive failing grades. And continuing making those unsatisfactory grades, college freshmen will…

When working with young people to advance and support their learning, one of the first points to consider is the motivations of the student to work with you and other professionals to complete various tasks and activities. If a child is able to motivate themselves (intrinsic motivation), this can make a significant difference to the relationship between the young person and the professional, along with their view and attitude towards a subject/activity/task that they are working on. Effectively, this bypasses the need for extra work to motivate the young person as they can already see the benefits of working hard to complete the task. However, not all young people are self-motivated (for various reasons) and need motivation to come from someone…
