Now they have to go and find the cure [a potato], which doesn't exactly grow where they live, and only those “crazy psycho's” have it.
Rising Action: Hiccup goes on the quest for the cure, he brings his gear, his dragon, his other friend Camicaze, and a dragon to pull them on their sleigh. They then go in search of the cure and suspect that it’s in the territory of the psychopaths that attacked them earlier. Hiccup ties the dragon to the sleigh (that can be used as a boat as well) and they ride off. After a while they reach the island where the potato is said to be. They reach the island, and sneak into the great hall. Plot Point: Hiccup gets
caught. Hiccup then tricks Norbert (the chief of the tribe) into showing him the potato, which he does, then in another attempt he tries to make Norbert give him the potato… which failed he is then put in a life or death situation and life wins, but he cheated in a way, so he was kept alive but locked in a cage. Climax: His friend Camicaze picks the lock and grabs the potato, and a strange little “ticking-thing” however she knocks over the case (in which both the potato and the “ticking-thing” are in) and gets the attention of the whole hall, they make a run for it. They all get in the sleigh and make way for home, and now they have the cure. Falling Action: As they set sail for home they are in a joyful mood, but it doesn’t last long afterwards they are attacked by a giant sea dragon. The sea dragon wrestles Hiccup for the potato, the sea dragon wins. They reach the island and admit that they failed to get the cure. Then suddenly hiccup falls stiff and his whole body steams. In an attempt to save his own life hiccup tells his best to shoot him with an arrow that had been stuck in the potato for so long, but since he can’t speak that well because of the stiffness, all that comes out is “Oot me!” Resolution: Fishlegs gets the message he grabs the arrow and shoots Hiccup on the foot. Hiccup is rejuvenated and the elder admits that he mistook Hiccup for Fishlegs. Denouement: Hiccup planted the arrow into the ground and a small seed was still latched on because now potatoes are all over Berk. Afterwards hiccup finds out that the giant sea dragon had the disease as well because it took the potato and that day the same dragon looking as healthy as ever had followed him everywhere after that day keeping him safe.
Describing the Main Characters;
Hiccup: A scrawny, red headed, intelligent, extremely clever, left-handed, master sword fighter, Viking named Hiccup who everyone say is “useless and weak”. Fishlegs: Hiccups best friend, with a squint, and allergy to reptiles (even though he has a dragon), and asthma as well, but he can be cunning at times. Camicaze: A small, confusing, and talkative warrior of a female tribe, and trained in thievery. Norbert: Chief of the tribe of hysterics(psychopaths) and he himself is a huge psychopath who uses an axe to decide things and is the second arch-enemy of Hiccup. Old-Wrinkly(elder): he is a 93-year-old man, and he is Hiccup's grandfather. He is also a soothsayer and a doctor. Toothless: A small (very weak), green and red dragon, stubborn, mischievous, complains a lot, respects hiccup (sort of), and has no teeth. One-Eye (sleigh pulling dragon): A large, heavy (so can’t fly), white, saber toothed dragon, very stubborn, but respects hiccup (in a way). Doomfang (giant sea dragon): A huge black dragon with large fangs. Equipped with freeze breath (cryonics breath). Loyal to hiccup for saving its life.
Theme;
The theme of my story is; never leave your friends, because even when the odds were stacked against hiccup getting the cure, he still didn’t desert his friend. The other theme is your true strength and courage is inside, since he had the courage to hold on to the cure when wrestling the giant sea dragon, or having the courage to go on the quest and steal from the Hysterics. These are the themes that I came up with, and they relate to my cover because the man saving the other shows not to leave a friend behind, and the man facing a dragon shows courage and strength are within.
Figurative language;
This whole story is a flash back of one of the many adventures in hiccups life as shown in the epilogue. On page 2 hyperbole is used to describe the air, “The air was as sharp as broken glass;” and lastly on page 239 hyperbole is used again, “That very same Doomfang has followed my boat ever after, not like a Doom or Curse but more like a guardian angel.” These are a few pieces of figurative language I found.
