For this movie assignment I decided to watch the movie “Antwone Fisher”. The movie is based on a true story about how Antwone, a young navy man, was forced to see a psychiatrist due to a fight he had with a crewmember. During the course of his treatment many things are discovered about his past. The psychiatrist named Jerome Davenport, a commander played by Denzel Washington, began the sessions by having a stern, but understanding appearance. Using his rank, his looks and his words, he portrays many different roles. During the first session, the atmosphere is a little tense and awkward. They both knew that he [Antwone] did not want to be there and was only there because he was forced to…

“In art theory, formalism is the concept that a work’s artistic value is entirely determined by its form—the way it is made, its purely visual aspects, and its medium. Formalism emphasizes compositional elements such as color, line, shape and texture rather than realism, context, and content.” . In Hero, Zhang Yimou combines cinematography with mise en scène to bring his own vision of the story, particularly with the use of certain colours. There are a total of five colours in this movie which choosed to express different versions or point of views ; black, white, red, blue, and green. Do you ever look far into a movie or TV series enough to know what the producers are actually showing or what point they want to get across? Many action television series show either the four personality archetypes, narrative archetypes, or Freud’s theory. Narrative archetypes are one’s that stick out to me the most because the archetype shows that there are many different characters throughout the TV series. The television show, Arrow, shows narrative archetypes with the hero, trickster and witch, and the wise old man.…

In numerous works of literature, a character that may not even appear at all in the course of the story carries a significant presence affecting the development of the plot throughout the novel. In Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, the author indicates that Oskar’s deceased father plays an eloquent role in the development of the plot. As a result of his father’s presence, Oskar goes on a trek throughout New York, eventually is able to connect and create a bond with his grandfather, and the theme of loss is centered around Oskar’s father’s death.…
