movie review: avatar
my movie is avatar, now I will give a summary of this movie. The story is start at 2154, human have severely depleted Earth’s natural resource. Pandora, a planet which is has mines for a valuable mineral – unobtanium. And RDA wants to gain it. In order to explore Pandora's biosphere, scientists use Na'vi-human hybrids called "avatars", operated by genetically matched humans. Jake Sully is a paraplegic former marine who works for a corporation called RDA. He infiltrates a native group of people known as the Na’vi through the use of an avatar. The task of jake is convincing Na’vi people move out their home tree in three month. Hometree is the land where a community of the Na’vi people lives, and lies a large deposit of natural resources that is very valuable to the corporation. Only through his experience living in the avatar body and with the Na’vi people does Jake discover something he never expected. He falls in love with his Na’vi teacher, Neytiri, and embraces the Na’vi culture. The Na’vi views the world in a different way than humans do. They have a different set of values, similar to Native Americans. Jake’s allegiance towards the corporation changes when RDA destroys one of the Na’vi’s sacred tree. Jake realizes that the corporation and its leaders cannot be reasoned with and that they will stop at nothing to get what they want. He doesn’t want destroyed the home of Na’vi, and try his best to lead Na’vi people to against. Finally, they are won this war. Jake become a hero in the clan of Na’vi.
Undoubtedly, we can learn leadership lesson from Avatar, the lead character in avatar is Jake. Jake Sully, physically disabled and in a wheelchair, but undeniably strong and willing to use unprecedented force to preserve justice. And be a clan's spiritual leader at last. I think the emotional intelligence-based leadership was demonstrated in this movie. The important component of Emotion intelligence-based leadership is Empathy, the ability to understand and

For this assignment, the movie I decided to watch was called ‘Avatar’. This movie is about humans, or “sky people”, travelling to the planet Pandora to conduct studies over the natives that live on the planet, and to gain resources that the planet provides. The natives on Pandora are called the Na’vi, and they are blue creatures who are much different than humans. One of the humans that travelled to Pandora to study the Na’vi is named Jake Sully. Jake is a paralyzed ex-marine who decided to travel to the planet after his twin brother passed away. He came to be in the program where he takes the body of an avatar, so that he can learn more about the people on the planet. The air on Pandora is poisonous to the sky people, so they have to use the…

Jake Sully’s brother, Tom, was killed in a robbery. Sully decides to take his brother's place in a mission to the distant world of Pandora. Sully is paralyzed and is promised that if he completes this mission, the government will pay for an operation to fix his back so he can walk again. Sully begins to bond with the native people, he quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri. the military forces are closing in on the Tree of Souls- the most important and sacred place to the Na’vi. Sully, in Avatar form, tells Neytiri to disengage from the fight. Sully blows up the approaching enemy, saving the Tree of Souls. Quaritch, wearing a super powered AMP suit, traps Neytiri under the dead body of the animal that she rode to get there. The issue in Avatar is about war and the environment. The main social issue in Avatar is powerful countries invading smaller countries. The movie took place in 2009, when Obama sent 30,000 troops into Afghanistan. This is an example of a larger world power infiltrating a smaller country. The powers are destroying a lot of things to get things, I think these powers destroy our environment to get these resources because when they are destroy resources. trying to get them and they are destroying things to get to them. Avatar shows us the reasons and effects of war within our society and how the environment can be damaged if we do not take care of…

Pandora. Within James Cameron’s Avatar, it is a world filled with wildly exotic plants and animals, often with little resemblance to our own world of Earth. It, like Earth, harbors it’s own sentient species, called the Na’vi. However, the Na’vi are a much more primitive race than humans, and do not react well to human technology and disregard to nature. The movie follow Jake Sully, an unfortunately disabled marine who’s twin brother was a leader in the Avatar program, which consisted of transferring human minds into Na’vi bodies, intended to help improve relations with the native Na’vi. However, Jake’s brother is unfortunately murdered in a mugging, but their identical DNA allows Jake to take his place. Jake, while totally untrained for such a task, accepts the job and, in a fit of irony, ends up being the one ‘human’ Na’vi accepted amongst the natives. Through a long series of events that will be reviewed here, he eventually switches sides and leads the Na’vi in driving the humans from Pandora, and transfers into his Avatar body so he can be with his lover. There are two hero’s journeys within Avatar, the first being Jake’s goal of being accepted into the Na’vi’s society, the second with pushing the humans from Pandora.…

    Argo Movie Review

Argo is a movie about the US’s problems with Iran in the 1980’s. I was pleasantly surprised to find it very enjoyable. I don’t tend to enjoy history movies or documentaries, but the plot really captured my attention. I like that the filmmaker gave some background information regarding the conflict because this allowed the viewer to understand what was going on. At the end of the movie, pictures were shown comparing the real events and images to moments from the films. What I found astonishing about this was that the locations, action scenes, and even the people in the film, were replicated so well. I mentioned that I was especially grateful for the background information given at the beginning of the film; the one and only thing that I would have changed was that I would have added more contextual information. This is just because some people such as me find that our history is so extensive, that it tends to overwhelm us to the point where dates, locations, and conflicts are all intertwined in one’s mind. Overall, I found the movie very informational and taught me a lot without being a tedious lesson.…

"The Last Airbender is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented"
(Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times). Many have sat through and watched The Last Airbender, directed by Shyamalan, while others have ravished over Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Nickelodeon cartoon. Both of these have the same concept and story line, but yet still vary completely. Shyamalan altered the setting, plot structure, added and deleted ideas and details from the cartoon, as well as portrayed the characters differently from the original episodes.…

‘Avatar’ is a sci-fi action feature length film directed by James Cameron. It has been argued that ‘Avatar’ presents the message of the greed of capitalism against the people who want to live in peace and preserve their culture. The blockbuster hit, ‘Avatar’ refers to a major element in American history – the Invasion of America. The science-fiction film has relevant similarities to this historic period; in ‘Avatar’, humans from Earth go to the planet ‘Pandora’ to disrupt the peace for a rare mineral – the unobtanium. It is further suggested that the ‘unobtanium’ could symbolise oil.…

This paper will encompass a discussion about emotional intelligence (E.I.), its varied definitions, applications to leadership, and potential areas of concern. It begins by outlining the ability-based model of E.I. set forth by Mayer, Caruso, and Salovey and their Multifactor Emotional Intelligence Scale. Next, the mixed and trait-based constructs of emotional intelligence are discussed by examining Daniel Goleman’s definition of E.I., along with some of his claims about its effects on leadership in the workplace. From a scientific standpoint, relationships between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership are examined by reviewing a meta-analysis by Harms and Credé. Finally, there is a discussion about the implications that emotional intelligence is still not completely established as a scientifically established construct, and an example of the potential for misuse of emotional intelligence is given.…
