1.0 Scenario
You are required to thoroughly evaluate the feasibility of moving from retailing to e-business by analysing and interpreting the following areas of Angela’s Florist. She has been struggling with the high cost of wages associated with keeping her shop open the same hours as the local supermarket (Woolworths) which has recently started selling flowers. Angela’s Florist wishes to embrace e-business principles as a way of expanding her customer base and streaming her business operations. One of the strategies that she wishes to implement includes establishing a web site. This will enable supply of flowers and other gift products to a larger number of customers.

This may be through the media and/or websites and can be done by the use of telecommunications to exchange merchandises and services. E-business is also defined by Investopedia as “A type of business model, or segment of a larger business model, that enables a firm or individual to conduct business over an electronic network, typically the internet.” (Investopedia, LLC, 2015).

By establishing a website, Angela’s Florist will not only be opening her businesses option into becoming an e-business, but will also be able to benefit in areas such as expanding her customer base and opening hours, limiting her wages expenses and eliminating the intimidation of other businesses. Angela’s florist will also have the ability to stream her business operations online, by using B2B and B2C transactions.
2.1 Business to Business (B2B)
B2B, or more professionally known as Business to Business, is an online trade that exists between businesses such as the manufacturer and wholesaler. Through e-business, Angela’s Florist will have the ability to advertise their merchandise and services to a wider range of customers, ensuring the constant flow of revenue throughout the business. Extended business hours outside of the physical store will also let the customer’s order goods throughout the afternoon and night in their own comfort.
3.0 Retailing VS. Electronic retailing
Retailing, is the physical sale of goods or services to a consumer, while electronic retail, or e-business, is the sale of goods through the internet.
3.1 Benefits of retailing
Retailing has many advantages to it, such as protected security, ensuring that all customers and staff are safe from fraud. Retail also enables the customers to physically feel and see merchandise before purchasing, which gives them a chance to logically purchase goods.

In relation to the business, retailing provides the customer and staff personal interaction which helps build customer loyalty. This means that the business may have numerous loyal customers who always purchase flowers from Angela’s Florist.
