I love being surrounded by my family and friends and I feel that I have a healthy social life. I like being close with my family and friends because I can go to them with my problems and they keep me in a good mood. I enjoy meeting new people and making new relationships. I find that the more people I know the more opportunities arise. A few weeks ago I went out with some of my friends from high school that I had not seen in a few years. To my surprise, one of my friends just got a new job as a supervisor at a local telephone company. I told him how I was getting a degree for computer networking. He told me to get in touch with him when I finished school and he would try and get me a job.…

Issues such as lack of proper education, dead-end minimum wage jobs, unsanitary living conditions, and unfair labor practices can have a detrimental impact on the health condition of individuals in a community. Newcomers or recent immigrants in Canada do not always get the job that they desire and many end up doing odd jobs barely able to meet basic needs. In that case proper health and wellness would become the least of their priorities. As society and as a nation we must strive to correct all the inequities such as job opportunities, access to affordable high-quality education, and overall activities and programs that help integrate immigrants into mainstream Canadian society.…

There is a lot of difference between my culture and the USA. And I really love my culture because I grew up on it. Now that I am in america I know American’s culture. When I compare these two cultures, I can see that they are not similar. For example, In my culture most of the time you don't eat alone, if you eat alone people will not be happy because most of the people in our culture eat together with their family or friends. In the US if you eat alone or if you eat with someone it is OK for people.…

Gang violence has been causing problems in America since at least the latter half of the 20th century. Many cities are subject to have large gangs and this by no means is a good thing. To name a few cities New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit have been known to be grounds for all different sorts of gangs. Whether it is a biker gang such as the Hells Angels, or an African American street gang such as the Bloods or Crips, all across America we are seeing the concerns over crime rate increase while the crime and murder rate have gone down. Chicago is one of the biggest cities to have been prominent on recent increase in gang violence. Most people blame inner-city violence in Chicago on the existence of gangs. But I think that the murder rate remains high in Chicago because of the amount of illegal firearms in circulation. Thus, I hypothesize that a decrease in the number of illegal weapons will result in a decrease in the murder rate. Criminals with no prior gun experience that participate in violent gang activities have caused the murder rate to increase twenty five percent in the last year (Venkatesh, 2012).…

Even if you are a mix of many cultures, you have one. Culture evolves and changes all the time. It came from your ancestors from many generations ago, and it comes from your family and community today.” (Axner) Culture does play a big part in life as well as problems within the lifetime.…

The past few years, something new has been going on in my life, something I am not very familiar with. This something is change. I always dreaded change, even the word change itself. I was hanging out with the same group of friends since the beginning of high school, shared my best memories with and we were as close as can be. They truly were my second family. As I began my first semester in college, I became a very diligent and hard working person. Consistently working diligently in my studies and working to my upmost potential in my job. Unfortunately, some of my friends were not the same way and even though this may have upset me, I believe that I should always surround myself with people who have similar goals to my own. Although it was just this one thing, it had…
