Arriving into the United States was like arriving in a whole different world. Ever since I had arrived to America, my entire perspective has flourished with many different people and their culture. Despite that everybody is from different ethnics, they all coexisted together as one big community. The community allowed me to experience new relationship with people of different race, something I would never be able to accomplish in my old homeland. I surrounded myself with amazing friends and peers.
Upon arriving to the Unites States, I was afraid that I would not fit in and would not be able to make friends. However, I have never been more wrong. Everyone was so friendly to me and I became able to build lifelong relationships many of them. I have best friends that are from different cultures who I can say for sure, are true friends as well. They are all ambitious and have huge dreams. We motivate, have fun, and help one another as well. They are very special to me and inspire me to be the best I can be. There is no mistake that my friends influenced who I am
today.
However, to me personally, the biggest change to me was how much potential and freedom anybody can obtain with the education available in America . Here in the United States; nothing is impossible to achieve, one person can be a lawyer, another can be a computer programmer and another person can even be a doctor! The United States of America allows many generations to achieve their dreams and happily contribute to our great society. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about my home country of Yemen. In Yemen, in order to receive education, you have to pay which can limit the potential a person has on the world. However in America, education is free until college, allowing anybody to flourish and find out what they can do to benefit society and keep America to become an ever growing nation!
Migrating to America was the turning point of my life. I am very thankful to my family for the sacrifices they made in order to give me a better life than they had. I have made amazing friends and am happy because of my family. In order to make them proud, I want to finish my college education. I want to be the first in my family to do so. It will not be easy however, they brought me to America, the land of opportunities. Therefore I will seize the opportunity I have and become successful, and to be successful, I will complete my college education.
