“Sir, W-why are you asking what i know about the day sophia… passed.” He asked. “Well, sophia’s family wants to know who should be held accountable for their daughter’s death.” He answered. “So you think i was responsible?” A tear streaked down Mr. linden’s cheek. “I will be asking the questions here, please continue.” “Any way, um… when I got back from the back room sophia was waiting for me with the book and her library card. and I froze,” “ The book of dark things i believe it read?” “ Yes that’s the one” Mr. linden replied with a shaky voice “And when i finally realized what was happening i told her ‘This book is not suitable for children.’ and suggested she get a new one, but the wouldn't take no for an answer so, she opened to the cover page and read me the bold print that read ‘Fun for ages 4-104!’ she demanded to check out that book, and at that moment it came to me, i would never rid myself, or anyone i cared about of this book. So i slowly checked the book out for her, and she thanked me, as usual, skipped out with her library card tucked into her shirt pocket, and new book in her arm, as usual.” “And you expect me to believe that this ‘Book of Dark Things’ sprouted vines in the middle of the night and some how killed this eleven year old girl?” Mr. davis said sarcastically. “hmpf you don’t believe me, of course you don’t, Its that book and it always finds it’s way back!” Mr. linden shouted in frustration. “how

Summary: In "Darkness Too Visible" by Meghan Cox Gurdon, published on June 4, 2011, the author addresses the increasing prevalence of dark and explicit themes in contemporary fiction for teenagers. Gurdon recounts the experience of Amy Freeman, a concerned mother, who finds the offerings in the young-adult section of a bookstore disheartening due to their graphic content. Gurdon argues that modern teen fiction delves into themes of abuse, violence, and depravity in ways that were once sparingly explored. She suggests that while some argue these novels validate the teen experience, they may also normalize and spread self-destructive behaviors among young readers.…

The Dark, a children’s picture book written by Lemony Snicket and illustrated by Jon Klassen, is a brilliant model of how children picture books can help children overcome a common childhood fear. In the picture book, the theme of fear is shown by the way the main character, Laszlo, interacts with ‘the dark’. Laszlo conquering his fear of the dark is shown through the illustrations, font and language used.…

There are many memories that may come to mind when the word adolescence is spoken. Some people recall times of enjoyable, innocent adventures, but for others the phrase “teenage years” holds horrific memories. For a section of the populace their “teen experiences” may be the most appalling time period, as they begin to undergo many changes. This concept of dark adolescence is present, not only in the real world, but in the literary world as well. For example, in the novel A Separate Peace where a friendship turned in the wrong direction and a deadly war, mark the moments of growing up. While some readers believe that Phineas (Finny) and Gene’s separate peace shows the innocence of youthful occurrences; a closer inquiry demonstrates that through mental illness and death , adolescence is a time of terror, thus showing a theme of the realization of reality.…

In “This Amazing, Troubling Book”, Toni Morrison recalls that she found the novel to be extremely uncomfortable and worrisome, but Morrison also states that she was without guidance the majority of these times. Without the guidance of a teacher the message of the book disappears in the controversy of it all. On their own, high schoolers will read this book and have the same reaction. Teaching this book to the students offers the guidance they need to understand such an important and relevant novel.…

Mrs.Calloway’s apathetic hostility is offset, however, by the mention that “it made no difference to her that you’d read every word of it”; In spite of the confirmation of her apathy, her hostility has reason: Her strictness was to ensure the reader got the most out of the books they read, imprinting the information deeper within their minds. Today is the day. The day where the Mockingjay unites with another to continue their lives together. Mother and I walk back to what’s left of the Seam, knowing it is a place worthy of a wedding. I found the dresses Cinna left behind for the forced wedding. Now, with Coin and Snow dead, nothing feels forced. I can hunt freely outside the District Limits put in place by the Peacekeepers. I can give to the poor what I catch, and I can make sure everyone is equal. I chose the least popular dress for the moment because I wanted to resist the Capitol to the maximum I could. I hate them for everything they did. Not just the military officials, everyone there. Taking all our resources and killing us off without a just reason. That’s why everyone needs a guiding light. And to me, Peeta’s light shines the brightest. He’s the reason I’m still alive. Because he risked himself to be captured by the Capitol so I would be safe. And only him will I trust to lead me into happiness.…

Paula has a beautiful, angelic voice that could stop you in your tracks. “Paula had filled the silence with her own voice.” (175) The silence created by her Father’s omission of his past impacts Paula to have an empty, negative space in her life. On the outside, no one would ever accuse Paula of thinking negatively or being afraid. But, you cannot judge a book by its cover, “You wouldn’t believe it, but I’m still so afraid of the dark, after all this time; I go to sleep with my hands and feet twisted together for comfort.” (123) Jacob never told Paula of his past, which led to Paula feeling insecure, afraid, and lost. Once Paula does find out the truth of her father’s past, she is “broken, like somebody took her (me) apart.” (214) Jacob was just trying to protect his daughter by keeping his past a secret, but in the end has a more negative impact on her life.…

As the telecommunications industry faced a huge development in the last couple of decade, the demand for bandwidth has extremely grown up. The bandwidth demand pushed and stimulated a need for protocols that would increase the bandwidth efficiency. The multiple accesses combine many signals to one single communications channel. Basically, there are three types of division-based protocols which are: FDMA, TDMA and CDMA. Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) – is a frequency based multiple access where the channel is the frequency. In other words, the signals in FDMA are assigned frequency channels. Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) – divides the frequency channels into slots, so that two or more users are able to use the same frequency band. In this case, each user is assigned different time slot. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) – in CDMA the users are assigned different random binary sequence codes which modulates the carrier by spreading the spectrum of the waveform and assigning users with unique code…
