“This is your life and it’s ending one moment at a time.” ― Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club This quote basically means that you only live once, or YOLO. So you have to make the best of your life. Make each moment count. Typically, life has its ups and downs. But I have always gone up. And that’s what I pride myself on. It definitely takes a lot of work to be where I’m at now, especially in sports. You have to have the right work ethic and mind-set to get far as an athlete. I play hockey, and I have to constantly be practicing my shot and working out to be the best, and to keep on improving. Having a fantastic work ethic does not just help me be an all-star athlete. It also helps me in other places such as school. Most of my homework always gets done, which results in a solid test mark. Not only that, but I always understand how to do my worksheets and assignments. I guess some could say I have an abnormally high IQ, but it’s definitely my work ethic that takes me to where I am now. A good work ethic also comes in handy at home. My parents always assign me a ton of chores. And because of the fact that I am not a lazy person, these chores are quite tolerable. Even though I don’t like to do them, I still get them done. Having a good attitude is also a key factor on what it takes to live a good life. Other people have described me as funny, charming, and kind. Because of this, I have been able to make friends quite easily. And the best moments are definitely made with your friends. And to re-state my quote, “life is ending one moment at a time.” That’s why it’s important to have a good attitude. Without that, your life would not be as good. Another hobby of mine is playing video games. I play them every about every night just because they are so fun. I usually play online with friends, but sometimes I just do

You earn recognition, all your playing time, and a starting position through hard work. I grew up playing all kinds of different sports. I played baseball, football and later in life I started to swim competitively. In each case, I had to learn to take the responsibility to do my part—for myself and for my teammates. Practice was mandatory and took priority over other interests of mine. This was hard for me, since I missed out on school dances, family activities and other fun events because I had to be at practice everyday. It also forced me to learn good time management skills as I started to balance school, a social life, daily two-hour practices and games on the weekends. The coaches can only teach so much and, while they tried, couldn’t force me to learn my plays or study in my off time. I knew my hard work was paying off when my coach would say, “Good job Gunnar, I’m proud of you!” That one sentence made me realize that my hard work had paid off and that I should continue to work even harder, not only in sports but also in everything I…

Biff Loman displays only a small measure of his youthful confidence, enthusiasm, and affection. More often, he appears troubled, frustrated, and sad. The name ‘Biff’ gives an appearance of a tough man, but in the play ‘Death of a Salesman’, Biff is a flawed character who is the opposite of the appearance his name gives. Although he is a flawed character, he manages to succeed at one thing that Willy was not able to, which is acknowledging his failures, rather than dreaming of something he is not able to achieve.…

“Unless you know who you are, you will always be vulnerable to what people say” – Dr.phil Mccraw. In these three books, Catcher in the Rye, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and, The Great Gatsby all deal with men trying to find themselves and be who they are in society. Holden, Huck and Nick all live in a society where people are “phony’s”, “con artists” or very wealthy. In the famous movie Remember the Titans, the captain of the T.C. Williams football team stated, "attitude reflects altitude". When your attitude is positive you can fly higher than the sky, but if your attitude is negative then you can fall deep into the ocean. It has been said that a positive attitude is the key to success in life, and I just so happen to agree. Positivity can make you more motivated. When you are positive, others respect you and want to help you succeed.…

I am an achiever. There is almost nothing more important to me than having a strong work ethic, not only in a work environment, but also finding a way to include it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that hard work pays off, and there isn’t anything I am not capable of doing as long as I give it my best. First off, my first job was working at a small Italian restaurant when I was only fifteen years old, and I could only keep the job at that age if I got a waiver from my school counselor showing that I was still doing well in my studies. I did my best to manage going to high school, playing soccer, and still finding the energy to show up to work in the evenings. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment at a young age. I remember having to work the overnight shift doing inventory at my second job during my senior year, and still somehow I found the energy to study and make it to school on time. Secondly, I started working at a restaurant equipment store after high school, having been given the title of “receptionist”, only to find out that the job would include much more than just the general office duties that usually come along with this type of position. Not only was I responsible for completing my work that came along with the job, but also to be a personal assistant to the every need of the business owner. At one point I even found myself taking his mother home from an unexpected trip to the emergency room after a routine check-up. My boss and her other children were unfortunately too busy, and I felt responsible for making sure that she had someone there for her. One last example of being an achiever is my dedication and punctuality when it comes to having a job. I do not believe in…

I could not agree with this more. There is nothing most significant to me than developing a strong work ethic to help achieve my goals in a classroom or a soccer field while also applying it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that all my hard work will soon pay off in a form of a college degree, high paying job, or even becoming a professional soccer player and there isn’t anything that can stop me from achieving those goal if I do my best and stay focus. First off, I became the first member from my family to attend college while getting the chance to play soccer. When I graduated from high school, I realize I wanted a better life for my family since my parents came to the U.S. from an extremely poor part of Mexico and my life transformation would begin by attending college. Being successful in college became a huge responsibility because I made a huge commitment to my parents. I did my best to manage going to all my classes, play soccer and still somehow found energy to work on the weekends. I remember having to train extra after soccer practice and doing all my homework in the bus rides to our soccer games while still finishing my sophomore year with a 3.5 GPA. In my last year in Spartanburg Methodist College, I was able to graduate with an associate degree in business and manage to have a successful soccer year by receiving an All-American honor and getting a scholarship to Coastal Carolina.…

Three things my parents have taught me to value are our integrity, hard work, and love. I choose to live with integrity because that’s what my parents have taught me. If I didn’t have the integrity I inherited from them, I do not think I would be a successful student. Because I have integrity I choose not to cheat, or be dishonest with my professors. My parents have also taught me to value hard work. One thing I will say that I love about myself is my work ethic. I work extremely hard which is why I am successful at pretty much everything I do. I always want to be the hardest working person in the room, whether it’s the hardest working student, employee, daughter, or volunteer. Lastly, my parents have taught me to love everyone equally. This helps me in college because when I see students who are alone, I’m not afraid to conversant with…
