Counseling will be provided to assist Ms. Nevels with the effects of social anxiety as it relates to employment.
Counselor had a detailed counseling session with Ms. Nevels on the effects of Social Anxiety as it relates to employment. We discussed coping with anxiety. We discussed that identifying the source of anxiety is important. We discussed that the most important factors for decreasing social anxiety reactions is to figure out the root of what may be causing the social anxiety in the first place. We discussed that Ms. Nevels may be dealing with social anxiety due to self-image or self-esteem issues. She states that she has always been shy as a child. …show more content…
We discussed that once the root of the social anxiety is discovered, their are many ways to deal with it.
Counselor encouraged Ms. Nevels to take baby steps that will lead to coping with her disability. Ms. Nevels states that she will love to social with others, but need to find a way to deal with her anxiety. We discussed that small steps will increase confidence levels and help to prepare for more anxiety-proving social situation. Counselor encouraged Ms. Nevels to practice beforehand by going to small social
events.
