The same form of trickery was used on
Beatrice. The prince had Hero and her friend fool Beatrice. Hero and her friend waiting until Beatrice was listening in on their conversation so that they could mention how much Benedick really loves her. They made it seem as if he couldn’t live without her but couldn’t dare say a word to anyone.
Trickery was also used to ruin a relationship in the novel. Leonato's brother and his friend planned to destroy Claudio and Hero’s relationship so that they wouldn’t get married. The way they accomplished this was by getting Borachio and Margaret to pretend that Hero was being unfaithful. Leonatos brother went and grabbed the prince and Claudio so that they could see for themselves that Hero was being unfaithful to Claudio the night right before their wedding.
The last form of trickery used was to help make the truth come out into the light.
Leonato and everyone else was in on a plan to pretend that his daughter Hero was dead so that people would have the heart to tell the truth about what really happened the night before her wedding with Claudio.
In conclusion, Shakespeare used trickery throughout his novel in many different ways. The first two forms helped create a beautiful relationship between two people who swore never to love. Another form used was in pure evil because it destroyed a happy couple the night before their wedding. The final form of trickery helped bring the truth out into the open helping the sweet couple reunite. The way Shakespeare used trickery in his novel helped readers understand the way people operate. One form people use trickery is to help unite others. Another way people use trickery is pure evil because they use it to destroy relationships.
