Muhammad Ali Greatness

“I ain’t got no quarrel with them Viet Cong… No Viet Cong ever called me nigger.” These words were said by Muhammad Ali when he refused to join in fighting the Vietnam War (Block). There are many ways in which greatness is performed, and Muhammed Ali proved just that. Race, religion, gender, and color do not make anyone superior to or greater than anyone else. Ali gave many people hope that everyone will be treated equally, and courage to stand for what they believe in. Muhammed Ali was a man who performed greatness throughout his illustrious life. Muhammad Ali was a man who stood up for what he believed in, was great in the ring as a boxer, became a civil rights activist, philanthropist, and stood up for his religion. The Pride of Louisville,
He showed his greatness through his actions and showed people that everyone is equal. He did that similarly to how the great civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did in his lifetime. Ali believed in equality and justice, just as Dr. King did. Ali wanted people to live together in peace and for people to have justice, as Dr. King said “But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt...So we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice”(King Jr). They were very alike in wanting the same things, in terms of freedom, equality, and justice. Although Ali, and Dr. King had different methods of getting what they want, they were both effective nevertheless. Ali and Dr. King had very similar backgrounds and had similar hardships, so they were ultimately fighting for the same thing. Ali and Dr, King both used words to get what they wanted and didn't use any physical violence to get their message across. Dr king once said in his speech “I have a Dream” “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protests to degenerate into physical violence”(King
