My Musical Identity When the word music comes into mind, there are too many feelings rushed in all at once. Music is the worlds universal language. Melodies and harmonies mark pavements as they are heard by millions around the world. The importance of music in my life is too significant that as my life progress, music takes a greater role and has more value. Music has always been my escape. Harmony, melody and lyrics have been a guide throughout my life and have help me deal with issues and phases that others could have not. The sound of your favorite song or artist being played can be soothing, destressful and relaxing to one. It can also be a motivator in times of need, desperation. Music to me, is a memoir of stages throughout an individual's lifetime. It is a markdown and an interpretation of ones own heart. Music to me has always been a tool to guide me throughout stages in life. Back during my childhood i would listen to whatever was on the radio or whatever my parents would play at home, but even so as a child I often found myself singing my heart out as well as getting emotional to songs being played on the radio. As i got older, i started realizing and analyzing the lyrics in songs and began to interpret them carefully. The comfort i have found within the
melodies was a relationship bound to exist. Throughout my adolescence, my musical experience, or identity was generally skewed. I was never brought up around a specific genre of music like most children were. Both of my parents had migrated to the United States during their teenage years making our taste in music very diverse. Through them, as well as my grandparents occasionally, I was exposed to what they listened to which ranged from 70’s to 80's hits, all
