My College Essay
William Paterson University Essay Ever since freshmen year, I’ve always been interested in going to William Paterson. I remember being in guidance class and seeing a poster for William Paterson University for instant decision days, and I was so interested in finding out more about WPU and all that the school had to offer. I was immediately drawn to the school because of its nursing program. I’ve always wanted to become a nurse ever since grammar school and knew that was what I wanted to do in life. While looking though the website, I noticed that William Paterson has an amazing nursing program, and it’s been at the top of my list ever since.

Since I knew what I wanted to do with my life, I’ve decided that during high school, I would take the extra steps to make sure I did everything I could to prove this. During my sophomore year in high school, I joined a club called Future Nurses and Physicians, and it had such an effect on me. In that club, I had the amazing opportunity to shadow a nurse at Hackensack University Medical Hospital. While I was there, I was in the newborn nursery, and I knew thats what I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to be a pediatric nurse from that point on. It was amazing seeing these newborn babies and seeing all the steps the nurses took, like weighing them, bathing them, and more. It was a great experience and taught me so much, like observing how to take care of the newborns and making sure they were o.k.

This past summer, I decided to volunteer at Clara Maas University Medical Hospital and that was also an experience. I worked in the medical/surgical unit, so it was a different experience than being with newborn babies, especially because I was more involved with the patients, like getting them fresh water and having conversations with them. Volunteering helped me see more about the hospital experience, what I could be interested in, and the fast pace setting.

I am very passionate for majoring in nursing. It

The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. In both the movie and the book slaves had to overcome horrific conditions to be freed, In the movie the main character Cinque was captured sold and thrown onto the Amistad and into the life of slavery but yet he was fought for and he finally made it home, In the story Olaudah finally was also on a slave ship and was sold into slavery.…

Pursuing a career in the nursing field was the first change that I decided to make when I held my sister's hand as she gave birth to my three year old nephew. I was inspired by the care that was provided to my sister and my newborn nephew by various types of nurses before, during, and after birth. Since then, my awareness for the well-being of others increased while learning more about nurses and what they do. My first experience volunteering at Texas Children's Hospital has also encouraged me even more to become a nurse when I encountered my first four year old cardiac patient. I was prepped by his nurse in how to safely interact with the patient while she was helping me into my protective gown and gloves. The real inspiration was actually meeting the patient and lessening his anxiety of being in a hospital through one on one contact.…

There have been many occasions in my life that I have spent time in hospitals, nursing homes and by the side of a sick relative. When my grandfather was dying of cancer, he spent as much time as he could at home with his family by his side and when the time came, he was transferred to hospital, I was 14 at the time, still very young I knew it was not about how I was feeling, this pain was his and my grandmothers. I helped look after him for the two years he was diagnosed and it was during that time, I knew where my heart was and that was nursing. With my own experience of being in and out of hospital with two complicated pregnancies, I was in awe of the nurses and midwives who did everything they could to make me feel secure and safe, I was inspired and made an already certain career choice, even more evident.…

“To me the distinguishing characteristic of professional nursing is clinical thinking, every patient, whether well, getting sick, being sick or getting well has the right to a nurse who by virtue of this clinical thinking, manages the nursing care and is accountable for that care.” It would be a blessing to be a student of a prestigious program that was founded by the honorable late Ms. Dorothy M. Smith. Her aspiration and dedication to the program to feed and educate hungry minds is phenomenal. Being a former biology major, I was never enthusiastic as I am being a nursing major. Nurses are the glue that holds hospitals, clinics and nursing homes together. Desiring a Bachelor of Sciences in nursing, I plan to hold a position as a RN. Furthermore, I will continue my education to gain a doctorate in nursing. Attending University of Florida’s nursing program to achieve my career goals is a dream of an aspiring nurse. With the University of Florida’s academic standing, student involvement, comfortable environment and cheerful staff, being a part of the program is a beneficial plus. Entering college, my goal was to graduate with a Bachelor in biology and then attend medical school, to pursue a career as a pediatrician. However, a few complications arouse and that goal was short-lived. I am always told; never give up, on yourself and your dreams. Itching for the need to stay in the medical field, I decided on nursing. Deciding to get both my bachelors and masters rather than only my bachelor was the best decision I made. I decided on becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practioner. My career goal will not be achieved easily. It is a guaranteed package of gray hair, sweat, stress, gallons of Starbucks and dreams of my bed. I can be certain that I will be pushed to my limit to become the best nurse I am capable of being so that I am able to care for my patients the best way that I can. Previously having attended University of Florida, there was not a day I regretted saying yes to…

As far back as I can remember there has never been a doubt in my mind that I should be in the healthcare field. Like so many other children I can recall telling my mother that I wanted to be a nurse and work in a hospital. I was never dissuaded from following my dream; my mother always encouraged me to do my best in life, and as a result I was the first person in my family of six to graduate from high school. I can recall her saying how proud she was on the first day I headed off to culinary arts school.…

Many people believe that one can be successful if he /she is committed, honest, faithful or intelligence.
