Another piece of art is one I have chosen is a jar from the Ancient Near East collection which is located in the Smithsonian Museum of art as well. This jar is from the chalcolithic period and is from Iran. This jar is made of earthenware which is a porous clay which is shaped and designed and then fired at a low temperature to harden and keep its form which is today know as pottery to many. The colors that were used on this piece were red and black. The red the bas color of the jar and the line designs are done in black. The designs on this piece are geometric shapes of triangle and circles. This piece is three-dimensional and can also be considered a bulky mass. painted designs in contrasting colors had a long history in…

The British fashion designer and couturier Alexander McQueen has also been influential to me. McQueen was known for his theatrical, dark and extravagant work. For several seasons, he created series of pattern on pattern suits. Pattern on pattern work is seen in Watchmen and Schnick Schnack Jungle. Schnick Schnack Jungle is made up of found objects which I connected together to create original miniature sculptures. I then painted a repetitive pattern composed of many different sizes. This has the same push-pull effect as the zooming in and out of images and also creates a light visual dizziness for the viewer.Artist Kehinde Wiley has a classically painted spin on contemporary subjects. Similarly to Wiley, I am partially influenced by the realistically…

Change is inevitable, man-made environments are changing all the time, people are getting higher, living in apartments and skyscrapers, human subconscious perspective is changing the world. Towards the end of the 19th century, newly creative forces were emerging, which looked forward and sought after innovation and originality in design. Seemingly endless reworkings of decorative design was overused and unambiguously discarded as fresh ideas along with new technologies and materials began to saturate into the beginning of the 20th century. The developed western world was seeing a new age and the birth of modernism . The term modernism and its meaning has formed much debate but it widely regarded as a shared aesthetic or ideological manifesto. As an interpretive concept, it may be applied to art, music or cultural and scientific expressions, not just design .…

The writer of the main content presents a comprehensible idea of how design compares to innovation, and creativity. Von Stamm, (2003), defined design as; a mindful resolution making procedure in which an idea is altered into an outcome by its concrete (merchandise) or service. After reading this explanation a person can observe how…

At first, we contacted the artists to see their opus, and decided which artist we wanted to hold the exhibition for. And then we needed to find the sponsor which was a really important part of holding an exhibition, because if we didn’t have money, we couldn’t do all the following things. So when we got the money, we immediately reserved the place and bought or rented all the equipment we needed. And of course, we also made some beautiful posters to attract people to come to our exhibition. Those all the steps were prepared for a normal art exhibition, but we wanted to have a special one. So we came up a really good idea. Because the artist’s paintings were carton style, it had great commercial value. So we decided to use his paintings to make some merchandises. We printed the patterns on the coffee mug, T-shirts and cards. While we displayed the paintings, we also sold the…

Aldolphe began his career with poster making which he is most known for. He became successful enough with the help of partners, and set up his own advertising agency called Alliance Graphique. He was an important designer because his posters were memorable for their innovative graphic solutions and their frequent denotations to such painters as Pablo Picasso. He taught graphic design at the École des Arts Décoratifs and then at the École d 'Art Graphique. In his later years, Aldolphe suffered from depression, prior to his suicide in Paris 1968. Cassandre 's work is typically Art Deco which was decorative style that first appeared in France, it then became popular all over the world. His posters represent the style of a classic design period from the late 1920’s to the mid 1940 's. Architects working in this style adopted the modern construction methods of concrete, steel, chrome, glass and plastic. They also included geometric forms and striking colours which tend to be vivid and high-contrast. His inventive graphic techniques show influences of Surrealism and Cubism and became very well-known in Europe and the US during the 1930s. The design I am currently looking at is quite recognisable from the Art Deco movement. Art Deco and Cassandra himself was said to be inspired by…

Apple and namely Steve Jobs are notorious for design thinking and adherence to principles that govern good design with many rumored stories in circulation about product development and Jobs’ reaction to new Apple products. The Arts and Crafts Movement began in the last decades of the 19th century. It was developed by the ideas and views of William Morris who was inspired by John Ruskin. William Morris was a dynamic and multi-talented man. His name is “indissolubly linked to wallpaper design” (William Morris & Wallpaper Design, [sa]). All his designs were made by hand and not machines because Morris believed that “the tastelessness of mass-produced goods and the lack of honest craftsmanship might be addressed by a reunion of art with craft” (Meggs and Purvis 1998:179).…
