There are many things that I have learned over the past few years regarding college and life in general. I have faced many challenges and have discovered that I am truly nothing without
Jesus and I need him in every area of my life. I believe everyone has a story or testimony to tell that will benefit someone else throughout their life’s journey.
Starting College
I first attended college many years ago while on active duty. My first online class was almost a disaster. I wanted to get an education but didn’t have the time or discipline it took to attend school at that time. This was the start of my educational procrastination season. I was young and still getting to know who I thought I was at that time. Little did I know; I …show more content…
had a lot to learn about myself.
At that moment I wanted to attend school for two reasons. I aspired to be able to use my education towards career advancement in the military and after retirement. Now that I was a
“adult” at the age of 18; I didn’t think I had to follow instructions, rules, read assignments, or study. I was irresponsible for many of my college years. It also didn’t help that I wasn’t paying for my education. I had no idea how much college courses cost and didn’t appreciate the benefits awarded to me. I lacked balance when it came to education when my life seemed to be going well. So when life started happening while attempting to attend college my procrastination season quickly turned into an era.
Going through my life’s journey has taught me to appreciate all that is afforded to me not just through the military but through the blood of Jesus Christ.

education. When you have been through things that could have made you lose your mind and possibly even taken you out; you have a greater appreciation for life in every way.
There are many soldiers who will not be able to take college courses because of these two reasons and I am thankful for the opportunity. I have made a vow to commit and not quit! Jesus didn’t quit on me and has given me another opportunity to complete my education. I am determined to be all that God has called me to be and obtaining my degree is definitely a part of the process. I have rearranged my schedule and set a study and homework time so I can accomplish my educational goals.
Although I may have had a rocky start and a few trials and tribulations throughout my educational journey I will not give up. I will do all that it takes to obtain my degree and am grateful for the opportunity. I have put away procrastination and put on appreciation,
dedication, determination, and wisdom. My life’s journey has taught me to appreciate Jesus and all he has done for me. This is a small part of my testimony and I believe that we all have one.
