What did you learn about your procrastination habits and your reasons for procrastinating? Provide examples.
I learned that I do not procrastinate as often as I thought I did. When I do procrastinate I am usually doing it because my kids need me for something so I put studying off and say that I am going to do it “tomorrow” and really by tomorrow I say the same thing again. So I usually don’t get all my work done until Fridays and Saturday. If you do procrastinate often, why do you think you do it? If you do not procrastinate, what tips can you share on how you avoid procrastination? Provide examples.
My kids are the reason I procrastinate mostly and then other times it is because I am afraid I am going to fail at my assignments so I guess I try to put them off as long as I know I can. My kids usually need most of my time so I make excuses for being able to work on my assignments. I say to myself a lot “Well I can do this assignment in the morning before the kids get up and these two other assignments I could do on Friday”. Which assignments do you feel students are more likely to procrastinate on? Why? Provide examples.
The assignments I feel students procrastinate on more would be writing an essay and submitting class discussions. Essays usually have to be longer than one page of writing so most students think “I will do this on Friday or Saturday. It won’t take me long.” Then it ends up not getting done on time because the essay has required a lot more research than the student was prepared for. Students procrastinate on class discussions usually because we all have to reply to other students and carry a conversation so the student will wait until last minute to turn the discussion in so that they don’t have to carry a conversation back and forth.
