My dad was a very important person in my life. Although he may not have known it, He taught me many valuable lessons. The most important of which is my health and body. Upon my father’s passing I realized that there are several reasons why it is very important to take good care of your health. Bad nutrition, lack of exercise and ignoring the advice of doctors can lead to an untimely death. As a result, I exercise regularly, keep a healthy diet and, pay more attention to my body's signals. I have learn from my father's life that nutrition plays a great role in ones health. My dad was a person who would skip a meal if he could. What meals he did eat were very poor in nutritional value. When it came to food preparation he would use high amounts of salts, sugars and oils. Furthermore, my father was reluctant to intake appropriate fluids such as water. This cycle of my dads bad eating habits led to the decline in his health and pushed his diabetic condition. As a result, I have decided to use this as an example of what not to eat.
My fathers physical activity decreased as a result of his diabetes. A combination of his poor eating habits and diabetic condition made him feel tired more often. This consequently led to his inactivity and contributed to his massive weight gain in such a short time period. My dad would come home from work and immediately sit on the sofa, where he would stay for the remainder of the day. This became a daily pattern for him further leading him into his downfall of health. Unfortunately, his weight gain caused him to then have circulatory and heart problems, leading him further into his vegetative state.
Finally, despite medical professionals advising my father to change his ways, he chose to ignore their advice. He felt that it was not important and assumed that it was a better choice due to his already declining health. Seeing my dads choices going against the doctors word further helped me realize that
