In this assignment I will be discussing the influences on different dietary intakes and how it affects the health of a person, I will also recommend how to minimise negative influences in a health and social care setting.

Health factors resulting in specific nutrient needs, influencing the dietary intake:
The way in which you feed yourself is very important as after you eat or drink, your body breaks down the sugars in your blood and turns it into glucose. The glucose then travels through your bloodstream and gives you energy.
A person with diabetes means the pancreas either is producing too little insulin or none at all. It can also mean that the insulin can’t be used effectively. This can lead to many problems affecting nearly every part of your body.

There are two main types of diabetes. Type 1 and type 2. Type 1, is an immune system disorder. In type 1 diabetes, the patient’s own immune system stops the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, destroying the ability to manufacture insulin. People

This means that the price of food has a major influence on what people buy and eat. The food which contain high-fat and sugar are the ones which are more likely to be affordable therefore are suitable for people who receive low income.Another economic influence is the access to shops. A person who has difficulties walking long distances or doesn’t like to travel far will go to a corner shop as it would be quicker to access what they need meaning that the prices of products may be higher than usual.

Socio-cultural issues also has a big impact on a person’s diet as the parents in the family is more likely to choose the food that will be cooked for dinner before the individual can choose what they want to eat in terms of food. This could be due to religious reasons as every culture has their own type of food they prefer to
