I hoped to achieve this by the 15th of March to ensure each team member understood their specific role before the first competitive game. Achieving this goal was very difficult. Many of the girls could not grasp the concept of not staying within formation. They would often just focus on the ball and chase it around the field. I found splitting the field with cones helped the girls visualize the formation. Along with help from the other coaches and lots of repetition we were able to utilize our formation to win games.
The third objective was to improve the cardiovascular endurance of each soccer player. To measure this, I over watched a fitness test on the 21st of February and the 10th of April. I then recorded and compared the results. These results were positive as each player was able to demonstrate improved cardiovascular endurance. However, I am sure that I would like to coach soccer in some capacity. This could be volunteering at my local club or even a full-time role within a college.
My field training experience has been very beneficial to my development as a coach. Firstly, gaining experience of working with a soccer team made me realize I would like to do this in the future. Moreover, the chance to learn from experienced coaches enabled me to gather ideas and philosophies which I had not considered. I will be sure to incorporate what I have learned in my future career as a soccer
