My Guilty Pleasure

My guilty pleasure I become so alive whenever my little ears catch a catchy beat to their liking. My feet start to mimic the beat, my shoulders start to do a happy dance that most outsiders looking in would think I am having a mini seizure. I close my eyes, slightly tilt my head back and just embrace the wave of music. I am in a blissful state of mind where I have not a care in the world. Then it hits me, my three brief minutes of ecstasy are over with so suddenly and back to reality I must go. If you are guessing music as my guilty pleasure you are absolutely right. Whenever I want to escape the craziness of the world, music is where I turn to as my outlet of sanity. There are many genres of music that range from alternative rock to zydeco. The versatility music has been able to have over many years has been something that still amazes me. When we date history of music, we can go as far back as 500 b.c. ancient Greece. The Gregorian chant, which consisted of a very scared Latin text was sung by monks without instruments, was used to enhance there church services. Towards the end of the middle ages, music began to get so popular it started to move outside the churches. We go into the renaissance, baroque, classical, romantically, and twentieth century. These different eras of music have helped shape present music into what it is today. In think I have been a music lover ever since I bee in my mother’s womb. I’d remember my grandmother and mother reflecting on hilarious stories of how when I was a toddler, everyone would gather around to see me fill with excitement and dance to the latest new edition record. I personally love up beat music that is

Music has been a part of our culture since the beginning, from Gregorian chants to digital downloads. Before recording, music was passed along through singing and the teaching of the young. Music then moved into the era of creation with it being written, though only musicians knew how to read the music, but over time even the need for musicians to decipher the music became unnecessary. The ability for even the average man to listen to music began as technology started to catch up with the growing demand for music. Thomas Edison recorded the first ever song on a tinfoil cone, the recording was Mary had a Little Lamb. From there several different types of phonographs were built and patented. They would use wax covered cylinders and 7 inch disks.…

Today's music varies from classic, hip hop, R&B, pop, indie, country, etc. During the 1700’s there was mostly classical and baroque music, there was no diversity in music. People weren't able to access music whenever they wanted, they needed a vinyl player, or buy tickets to the theatre, or on the radio. With our current advanced technology we can access music anywhere and anytime. “Today more sophisticated distinctions and viewpoints pervade a nearly chaotic explosion of research into the manner in which all kinds of music, from the earliest notated pieces of chant to the works of the Romantic composers, should be performed.” “The Performance of Early Music in America.”…

Music has a number of purposes and it has been used throughout the world for centuries. Our fore-parents have had the pleasure of listening to, and probably being a part of the use of music, although the music we know today may not necessarily be what they used long ago. Music way back from our ancestors may have entailed the use of rocks, sticks etc. Drums were later introduced and as time went on we have the pleasure of having instruments like guitars, violins, piano, flutes and many more included so that what we hear today sounds like heaven on earth. One thing, for sure in which scholars believe, is that the purpose music served long ago is not the same as today.…

Music. Fascinating both by it's diverse individual styles and the inevitable fusion of different genres which in turn have created other completely new and unique styles of music. Classical music is a perfect example. The earliest forms of classical music were composed in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and displayed a very complicated and sophisticated form of writing incorporating a wide range of instruments and used the principle of multi instrumentation which achieved a very full symphonic sound which in turn led to the creation of specially designed halls to facilitate the sound. The origins of the music were also diverse, many compositions having been written for the stage, composers such as ‘Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky' who…

It can be a cheerful, carefree, joyful beat, to gloomy, mournful, blue beat, but not everyone has the same taste in music. Music it’s self is unbelievably stunning and so breathtaking.…
