My Hero Is My Mom
My Hero Is My Mom

When I was 8 years old, I went through something most 8 year olds don’t go through. My father passed away on January 18th, 2001 and it was a very difficult time in my life. The only person I had to look up to at that time in my life was my mom. She has raised me by herself and has always put me before her needs. She has been a mother and a father to me my entire life, and that’s what truly makes me look up to her in many of ways. I can go to my mom for anything that I need, or that I’m struggling with. She has made sure I have had the best of things and works very hard for the things I need. She is not only my mom; she is also my best friend. She tells me daily that there’s nothing in the world that is ever to big that we can’t get through together.
I believe a hero is somebody you can look up to in certain aspects of your life and follow their guidelines to live up to their perspectives. I can honestly say my Mother has been my hero my entire life. My mom has helped me through many rough times in my 17 years of life. I truly believe that if it wasn’t for my Mom, I wouldn’t be the respectful and appreciative person I am today. She has truly been there for me my entire life, and I look up to her for that and one day I want my kids to look up to me in that sort of way.
My mom has given me self esteem and encouragement to goals that I want to fulfill in my life. She has always told me that I can do anything that I set my mind to. The encouragement she has given me makes me want to go far in my life and take every chance I possibly can to better myself. My mom has taught me to deal with many curve balls that have been thrown my way. She always tells me that “When life serves you lemons, make lemonade” which means to me, make any negative situation a positive one. So in saying that, I always look up to my mom because she always tends to give great advice that helps me with each situation in my life.
Although that my moms expectations are set high

There are many definitions of the word ‘hero’ but Dictionary.com defines a hero as a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities, a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal, the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc. While growing up, I can remember many instances where we were asked to write about and describe who we felt our ‘hero’ was. The common and cliche answer amongst many people is “my mom.” Under the dictionary definition I don’t know that all of my classmates moms, including my own, are heroes.…

What is a hero? A hero to me is a person who is brave, has a bunch of courage and knows right from wrong. You don’t have to have a mask or a suit to be a hero. A hero is willing to help a person at anytime. A hero can kill their enemy with kindness. For an example I believe Jackie Robinson is an incredible, life changing hero. He had been the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball. He had played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. They played him and they had ended racial segregation.…

Everyone has a different definition of a hero. Mine is a person who has impacted my life, or lives in general. They are selfless and genuine people who care about others more than themselves. A hero has no gender, size, or age. Anyone is capable of being a hero, but it’s very rare to find someone who possesses all of the qualities. People like a war veteran, a public figure, or an everyday person are all people who fit my definition of a hero. Irena Sendler, Tyler Joseph, and my mom are prime examples of what I think a hero is and should…

There are many other definitions of what a hero may be. Some may say heroes are noted for their "feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life”. Some may often see them as mythological legends, "endowed with great courage and strength, and celebrated for their bold exploits." In my personal view a hero can be anyone of who you could relate to, and also more importantly stands up for what they believe.…

My hero is one that is very close to me. My hero is the person that gave birth to me. My hero is my mother. I chose my mom as my hero because to me that is what she is and more. My mom is literally the backbone in the family. She takes care of everything in the family and around the house. Before I began to drive my mom would take me everywhere. My mother like many others has been to the moon and back just to help me. She is such a kind person, she gives me advice about anything, she is always helping me convince my dad about anything, and most importantly she helps me get away with everything. My mom is not just my mother she is more than that, she is like the best friend I could ever have. I remember the amount of times that I had castings and my mom would drop everything she was doing to pick me up from school, take me home to fix myself up, and then drive to the castings wherever it was that they were. My mother is perhaps one of the mentally strongest people that I know. She has been through so much throughout her life that I don’t even know how she was able to get through everything. Most of what I know about life lessons it is because she has taught me. My mom is the most inspiring, talented, and intellectual person ever. There was this one time where she told me this sad story about her and her first boyfriend which for her was the most embarrassing thing ever and I really don’t blame her. What that guy did to her was terrible but she got through it. She told me that story as an example of how to explain to not trust anybody no matter who they are or how much you think you know them. My mom wasn’t born in America she was born in Cuba though she did travel to the United States because she was an athlete. Her water polo team was an olympic team in Cuba, therefore, they were invited to many places outside of Cuba. Out of her entire family she was the first person to leave Cuba at her age and the she left it indefinitely when my dad came. Of…
