My Hero's Journey
I was sitting along the River near my village, recalling the legend of this river that an elderly told me yesterday. The splashing of the water brought me back to reality. Till now, I still remember the sight of the surroundings around the river. The river shone in the intense sunlight, the groves of green palms glowed and shone and faded with indescribable lovely colours at sunrise and sunset. At night, in the sudden cold of darkness the stars shone with extraordinary brilliance in the sky as dark as black velvet.

Our village has suffered famine for 5 years, since the river didn’t rise when the time of flooding was due. No corn grew, the fruits dried up, the crops grew thin and died. Everyone stole food from one another. Of course, the

In the darkness, it was cold and desolate. When I arrived in front of the cave, a bright light shone into my eyes. I staggered back and carelessly slipped and fell into the river. I didn’t know how to swim, and i knew it was forlorn to seek help because it was midnight at that time. When I was drowning, I seemed to understand what “Curiosity kills the cat” was. The only thing I could do now, was to wait for death to bring my soul to the underworld. When I thought my life has come came to an end, I suddenly saw a tall man with a ram’s head whose curling golden horns were shining and heard a mighty voice pierced through the cold air “I, the god of the river, Hemour, am impressed by your valor as nobody had ever come to me before. You are the first one. All villagers neglected my existence and didn’t honour me at all, you should (shall)tell them I will give life to corn, both barley and wheat will grow rich and plentiful, the vines and the fruit trees will flourish too. With my waters, I bring life to men and women. BUT! You all shall build me a temple and bring candies to me every year on this day, Halloween, to honour

Throughout human history, great heroes have been created to triumph over man’s struggles. Most every culture has, in the past, told their own tales of heroes and their trials. These champions, while spread across our world and its ages, share some key characteristics with each other. This formulaic composition of heroes, while it can deviate, has stayed true since the dawn of history. This remains true with the Finnish hero god, Vainamoinen. (okay so his name has a bunch of umlauts and such but I can’t type that every time.)…

The departure stage is the first stage that starts the hero’s journey. The call to Adventure is the first part of the hero’s journey. (Campbell 41). The call to adventure is as it sounds the point where something happens that causes the hero to begin his or her quest, it’s the most pivotal moment that the hero has at the start of the journey. Wright has his call to adventure when he enrolls in the University of Wisconsin in the engineering program that they had. Wright ended up dropping out after a few semesters and at the time that he does, he moves to Chicago (Huxtable 41-42). He decided to make the move when he decided that the small town of Madison had nothing left to offer him. Upon making it to Chicago Wright wasted no time in finding a place to work. “He tried many places and kept getting rejected. Wright’s last stop was the firm of Joseph Lyman Silsbee” (Huxtable 46). Silsbee takes the place of mentor for Wright, it’s with him that Wright learns more on his talent and begins his career and legend. Wright leaves Silsbee and gets hired immediately by Adler and Sullivan as an assistant for Sullivan at this time Sullivan becomes the mentor teaching Wright more. Wright going through these parts of the hero’s quest puts him in the hero category. Even with the fact that it’s known he lied to lie his way into getting what he wanted.…

Hi, Karen! I'm thrilled to hear back from you! You couldn't have written back at a better time. To be honest, I'm a bit queasy about rereading that last message I wrote because of how all over the place it is and my cringeworthy grammar.
