My High School Research Paper

The failure that later led to my success was failing to get into my high school of choice. When I was in middle school, I lost my priorities and goals. My grades fell in middle school. Baltimore Polytechnic Institute(BPI) was known as the best school in Baltimore City. Both my siblings had gone to BPI and it was expected of me to attend. When I received my acceptance letter, I was put on the wait list. The deferral brought a shock to me as I just expected it to happen. That experience was the first time in my life that I realized I wasn't able to succeed with minimal effort . The feeling when I was denied made me feel insignificant. I was then told I had to go to a private school, my parents believed if I wasn't going to the best school
in the city, then I wouldn't go to a public school. I've never decided on my future, but that was the only thing I knew as a student in middle school. This failure was a reality check that I knew nothing about rejection. Throughout my years at school, I was always told two things. I was smart but I was also lazy, I had to work on the amount of effort I was putting into school and learn to prioritize. The rejection led me to the realization that I would have to put effort into my work or I will not be able to succeed in the future. The fact that I was adept at school work didn't mean that I couldn't slack off and be lazy. I believe in the ability to control your own destiny. When you fail the only thing you can do is get back up and try again. I have a support group that I gladly came that always tell me to never give up. I always wanted just one thing in my life to be remembered. I want to leave a stamp anywhere I go, if I want to be successful you have to fail.
