With leading by example, soldiers will not only show respect to the leader but also give their loyalty as well. I will never ask my subordinates to do something I cannot nor will not do. I expect all the leaders that report to me to also lead by example. Soldiers respect a leader that demonstrates through their actions opposed to their words. If a leader is incompetent and is not able to step up to the plate and live up to some of the tasks they’re giving out, they will lose all creditably in the Soldier's eyes. I believe in recognizing Soldiers both publicly and privately, so the Soldiers will continue to take initiative and show motivation as well as redirect a Soldier that gets off task. When I see a Soldier struggling to succeed, I will pull that Soldier aside and address them about shortcomings and help them develop a plan to get back on track. This kind of environment is centered on respect, in order to get respect you have to give respect. Leadership is about being a role model and having a positive impact on people through working and living by example. Leadership is about consciously changing and challenging yourself for a purpose you believe
