My Life Of Pi Thesis Statement

This semester, I have learned how to write a thematic thesis, use TIQA structures, and eliminate to-be verbs, which has helped me grow as a writer. I grew as a writer by learning how to write a thematic thesis. By learning how to write thesis statements, I effectively cover the main points in my writing and provide the reader with a road map of my essay. My Life of Pi essay provides an example of a sufficient thesis statement: “Shown through Pi’s faith, hallucinations, and stories, Martel presents the intangible as a crucial part of safeguarding the human mind when encountering harsh realities.” I learned how to list my theme, the “intangible,” and my limiting idea, the “crucial part of safeguarding the human mind when encountering harsh realities,” which improves my writing by effectively summarizing my argument. In addition, I now try to list my main arguments in the thesis statement to inform the reader of my main topics. By listing my main topics, I create a guide to my writing, allowing my readers to follow my argument, which greatly improves my writing.
I learned how to write topics sentences, introduce my quotes, quote my examples, and provide analyses of my quotes. This gives my writing a basic structure and foundation so the reader can easily follow along without getting lost, which strengthens my writing skills. I also learned to write body paragraphs that tie back to my thesis statement. The “T” in the acronym TIQA stands for topic sentence, which reminds me to tie each of my paragraphs to my thesis statements. By reminding me to connect my argument to the thesis statement, TIQA helped me grow as a
