My Middle school experiance
I went to neosho school in 4k and then left to do homeschooling because my dad worked 3rd shift so we never got to see him. So after i graduated from 4k and my brother Jorden from 5k, we tried out homeschooling. Over the years we went from text book to text book, system to system. None of them gave all of what we needed to know or was too short or too long. But even though we kept on changing what we did for curriculum we managed to know all what was required for our grade and age level and more because my dad was determined to keep us up to date with kids our grade and trying to make us exceed and go above and beyond with our studies. We did a science class held at a church in oconomwoc every Thursday because we didn’t have much time to do science at home because we were focused on all the other subjects. My dad would have mini lessons on phonics with us and teach us to read, he made sure it was always fun and that made it get into our heads fast. But 2010 my parents decided that they wanted us to have a good future and a job when we get out of collage. So they decided to start a business on the farm for my and Jorden to take over one day and make a living off of it. It started out slow, just a couple of customers but LOTS of paper work for my mom and dad. We had a cross breed of a white leghorn and a Cornish. The Cornish is a very meaty and well muscled bird, while the white leghorn grows to full size in 2-3 weeks, but we just call them meat birds. We raised about 50 our first year in the business. And the following year we had twice as many chickens, 5 pigs, were selling egg to people and the local coffee shop in Hartford called Perc Place, had beef from our cousin, started out with 15 turkeys and last but not least, about ten times the paperwork for my mom from last year. The summer of 2011, mom and dad decided that we were getting over our heads with the business, paperwork, animals, money, teaching us kids, with all of the expenses, and my dad’s super weird work schedule that kept on changing every week. So my mom and dad made the decision to put us into public school. Its emotional for my mom and dad but my mom especially because we had a serious family sit- down talk and the whole time my dad talked my mom had tears in her eyes, and my dad’s voice kept on cracking. I’m not sure why it was so emotional for them but maybe it was the fact that maybe the fact that we had done homeschooling for so long, they would get to see us much anymore as we used to, or maybe it was just because they thought that we were growing up. But for what ever the reason, my parents took it really hard and it was sad for them but they knew that we would excl in our classes and they were both very proud of us. So a week before school started, we got our supplies even though Walmart was almost out of everything we still managed to get what we needed. We even got some new school clothes! I thought school would be the coolest thing ever and be an amazing experience, that I was going to make tons of new friends, have almost no homework, lessons to be a breeze, and that everything would be perfect, turns out I was in for a BIG surprise. First day of school I was friendly to everyone and tried to learn faces and match them with names. I remember half of my class was from my 4k class. I remembered Paytin, Connor, Megan, Myles, Kyle Schultz, Jack, Nathan, Zach and A.J. The other half I assumed was from the afternoon 4k or came to school over the years. Rarely did someone say thank you or excuse me or another manners, swear words and the F bomb were part of the normal language, and lots of the girls always wore really tight clothes and loads of makeup. Everyone was in a certain group and once you were put in a group, you were stuck in that group for life. You were either in the super popular, popular, semi popular, invisible people, idiots, or hated. I was in the hated group, I don’t know why, but maybe it’s because I was different, maybe it was the fact I was super tall I don’t know why, but that’s just how it was. I got blamed for everything and anything even though I didn’t do anything wrong. I was swinging on the swings by myself and Allia, Kaitlin, and McKenzie (all mean 8th graders) came over to me and claimed that I stole Allia’s heart and key necklace that I got from a set of books at the book fair that was going on. I said I didn’t but they didn’t believe me and tried to rip it off my neck but Ron caught them and told them to leave me alone. But later that week it was last period and I was trying to put my necklace back on after gym and they saw me with it and threatened to hurt me if I didn’t give it to her and if I told anyone, so I did. After the last bell rang I was walking to the bus gloomily and saw something shiny on the pavement. I looked at it closer and saw that it was my necklace smashed to pieces. So she didn’t think it really was hers, she just wanted to have some “fun” bullying another person. I found that was really sad that that’s what they thought of “fun”. I thought that maybe they had enough of me and might go and pick on someone else, but it just got worse. They would start rumors around the middle school and since most people didn’t know me to well, they all thought that they were true. I tried to be nice to everyone, but it was no use. The rumors had spread to fast already. I tried for student council, I only got one vote out of twenty seven people, and that was me. The bullying continued all year long, but very slowly got better over the years. Now in my eighth grade year, it’s gotten much better over time and I and now I have many friends in sixth and seventh grade and a couple of friends in my class and I’m a web leader now and also I’m going against Garrett for student council president and that’s pretty cool! I can’t wait till high school because it will be so much bigger and I will be able to meet so many new people and see my old friends from other schools. I hope to try out for high school track, basketball and volleyball. That’s my middle school experience!

Homeschooling has historically been the primary method for educating the average citizen. Before Western civilization began to emphasize the need for education of the general populace, children were most often taught by their parents, grandparents, or relatives with useful knowledge. In fact, the modern idea of formal education was usually reserved for the elite members of society who could pay the hefty price for a private tutor. Now, quality education is readily available to nearly every member of Western society. However, some parents have turned back to the practice of educating their children out of the comfort of their own home. This practice is known as “homeschooling.”…

Today was the day. Packed to the point of bursting open with new notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, and textbooks, he readied me for school. Instead of bouncing around as rambunctious young boys do, he trudged slowly in a peculiar meter of half-steps toward the doorway. He was living a new life in a new school that was filled with people who might as well have been aliens to him.…

In a black Nissan car a girl and her mom sat, supposedly talking, “Mom, I’m going to make a fool of myself, can’t I just go to my old school?” I pleaded my mom. “Don’t say that you’re going to make lots of new friends. Just try in out” my mom replied to my pleading. I had come to west middle after going to a private school for six years and I was very nervous.…

American Imperialism in the Nineteenth Century extended from several characteristics of America and American society, including but not limited to exceptionalism and manifest destiny. While these beliefs not only supported and manifested the perpetual effort to exploit and later completely oppress and subjugate the Native American populations within its borders, they also supported the later establishment of reservations and the practice of Native American boarding school education. But, American Imperialism extended far beyond its ever-expanding territory (Yale, 2008, Avalon Project). Rather, evidence existed in many corners of the world, like Asia, Southeast Asia, and Cuba.…

For a long time it was an activity I could evade with ease. In fact, my creativity was not even challenged until I was well into elementary school. In kindergarten and first “I don’t want to”, was deemed a valid excuse. Naturally second and third graders have absolutely no bladder control, and thus responding to “Alex, how about you read?” with “I gotta pee” had a 100% success rate. By fourth grade I had learned that I could win a free trip to the nurses office by shoving a pencil into my nose and making it bleed, a skill that carried me straight into middle school. Sixth grade was a different world.…

During my first round of practicum, I went to a kindergarten classroom with around 20 to 25 students in the classroom. I went to Miller Elementary and Mrs. Schuchard was my cooperative teacher. I walked in and was immediately placed with students to work with. In the morning the students were working on their daily five and phonics. One thing that I observed that I found very interesting is that the teacher had two rug areas for meetings. When she needed to teach the children for a longer period of time, she would tell them to move over to the other area in order to make them have a brain break and then refocus. It was very interesting to see how effective just a little amount of movement was for these kindergarteners.…

Throughout history the U.S school systems have changed quite a bit. During the 1900s to the 1960s the U.S school system was organized in different categories. Such as, some schools within the U. S were called junior high which was like a mini-version of high school. While other schools across the nation were more like a middle school approach. Nonetheless, a man named William Alexander had a enough and started the middle school movement, he realized along with other educators the need and importance to having a one system approach. For example, by having the one school system approach it open the reality of the truth behind junior high schools. Even though they helped prepare adolescents for high school without putting them in the same building with older teenagers it still delayed developments. While during the 1960s middle school supports argued that sixth-grade students benefitted from being separated from elementary students because it sped up their academic progress.…

When I step out of the car, I start to feel all kinds of emotions. I was happy that I had finally made it to the infamous “middle school”. I was happy that I had made it to what I thought would be the best years of my life(little did I know they would be some of the worst). I was angry that I had to go to school after a long fun summer. I was also a little worried. Not about the kids or the teachers, but rather that I would fail miserably. Opening my locker was probably the most stressful thing I endured that day. I felt as if I was a safe cracker, trying to crack an uncrackable safe. Somehow, I managed to get it open. Next thing I know teachers and administration were herding all of us 6th graders to the gym. I couldn’t wrap my head around the amount of kids, it seemed to be a never ending mob of 11 year olds.…
