Monsters have truly captivated me for multiple reasons. Some of the reasons being that they are supernatural.…
How would you like to be on trial for something you didn’t do? In Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, Steve Harmon is on trial for felony murder. I believe that Steve Harmon is innocent because he didn’t know Bobo Evans, the store wasn’t clear, and there was no signal.…
When you hear the word love we think beauty, joy, happiness. We think flower’s, candies, romantic love letters for our birthday or anniversary. We fill the flutter of butterflies in the pit of our stomach to acknowledge when a special someone enters the room. Our knees get week at the sound of those few words “I love you”.…
First, from what I have learned from her I have managed to get the impression that we are not fully interested in the same things. My result of thirteen for attitude homophily agrees that we are not so similar in that aspect. I know that we do share some common interests. We both really love make up and other small things, however our attitudes towards other things…
You’ll need to apply at least two theses to Frankenstein using examples from two different volumes of the text. You’ll also need to apply at least one thesis to The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. For the entire essay, the minimum number of theses to discuss is three (three different theses), but you are welcome to go beyond that number and include an additional thesis that apply to the novel or the excerpt. Keep in mind that you need to demonstrate your reading of the entire novel Frankenstein, so the examples need to come from different volumes.…
Imaging its a beautiful day in December you wake up to the calming cold crisp feelings of the air the snow is like tiny angels falling from the heavens. You walk down stairs to the welcoming aroma of breakfast filling your lungs as you walk into the dining room your mouth water like the Niagara Falls. You look around only to soon realize that you are home alone with a note on the refrigerator from your parents "we're off to the store we'll be back in less than an hour there is breakfast on the table" after she eat she goes back upstairs to wash up she gets dressed and walks down stairs to encounter her parents are home she notices that they are both unhappy and asks what is wrong she her mouth looks at her and tells her to sit down next to…
All monsters have that one thing that sets them apart from the rest whether it’s the notorious big foot and his big foot, Michael Myers and his huge kitchen knife, or even werewolves and the fact that they transform when a full moon is out. Every monster is unique and different, but in the book Monsters there are seven theses and one thesis stood out. Theses number six in the book Monsters states that “Fear of the monster is really a kind of desire.” That thesis is true when it comes to a certain fictional monster by the name of Freddy Krueger.…
I just sat there for 15 minutes spacing out until she slapped me in the face and walked away, at that moment I knew she liked me. The next day I told all my friends, they all said the same thing “It was just a coincidence”, I thought otherwise. The next morning I walked up to her and asked her how her day was. She responded with “Good” while yawning. I could tell she had a rough time falling asleep last night. Almost like a weight was on top of her the entire night. I took her to the movies that night and we watched ‘Minions”. The movie was 1 hour and 47 minutes, after the movie we went to ‘Potbelly’s’ on a romantic date. After that we headed to my house, things were starting to get serious. I walked up into my room and found her already lying on the bed, she was in a short red nightgown. We start talking and she tells me how romantic the movie and the dinner was. We laid down in bed together and watched cartoons for a while until we both…
Eventually, I embarrassingly fell in love. It wasn’t gradual, or voluntary - it just happened. Those “butterflies in your tummy” when you like someone are not some exaggerated, over the top, cliche’d, made up feeling. They’re real! In the most figurative sense, of course. Then I asked myself, “How did I know I was ‘in love’?” Well, my palms became clammier than ever, I had a smile on my face whenever this person was present (in reality AND in my head) - which by the way I had no control over - and I did everything in my power to “bump” into the person whenever I had the chance. It was the single greatest feeling; I fell in love and I had no choice in the matter. What I did get to choose, though, was whether to pursue this feeling or completely ignore it.…
Kody Scott, also known as “Monster” for his viciousness in beating of a man and further crimes, forms a realistic and brutal picture of gang violence in America. Throughout his story, Scott views his gang participation as the only viable means of survival. Killing is done through the necessity to promote oneself in order to become an O.G., or Original Gangster, the pinnacle of gang member status and achievement. The urge to become an O.G. seems to be paramount in Scott's eyes, and he outlines his plan: first he must build his reputation, then his influence as part of his set, and finally as a “promoter” of the Crips (Shakur, 1993, pp. 14-15). By age eleven Scott's sole desire is to become a gang member of his local set, the Eight Trays. He disregards education, at one point stating how he paid no attention to his middle school teacher, focusing only on the streets and his “homeboys” as source of lifestyle and adventure (Shakur, 1993, pp. 3-4). He clearly reaches his goal, putting the entirety of his mental and physical being into being a gangster, even though it leads him to a life wreaked by violence and prison sentences.…
Diaries are the autobiographies of our lives, meant to be confidential, private, and written with the utmost honesty. I employ the nature and format of the diary in order to emphasize the consequences that result from a lack of social interaction. My rhetor, as well as the majority of the other characters, lack a name, this serves as a tool to underline the content and message of the story rather than the superficial details. The rhetor begins by establishing pathos with the audience in order to gain their empathy. However, as he continues with his … [thesis] FIX…
Being in love is one of those life experiences that many people desire. Since ancient times, love has been the force that has motivated writers, such William Shakespeare who wrote o his famous play “Romeo and Juliet”, and painters such Vincent Van Gogh that incited by the love for Margot Begemann, one of his muses, to paint momentous paintings. Paris and Helen of Troy’s love lead to one of the most famous wars, The Trojan War. Because of love, Emperor Shah Jahan to built The Taj Mahal to perpetuate through the centuries his love for Mumtaz Mahal his favorite wife. Love does not recognize gender, color or race. Love can start a revolution in a person’s life. The main effects of falling in love can triggers remarkable physical and psychological responses in the human body.…
The Monster in Shelley's “Frankenstein” is a unique character that can be perceived in numerous ways, he can be portrayed as heinous and horrid, or he could be portrayed as misunderstood and humane. However, it is up to the reader to discern the Monster’s true nature and whether or not his intentions throughout the story align with his actions. In chapter 5 when the Monster comes to life, Victor gives the reader a vivid description of the physical characteristics of the Monster saying that “His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of…
Everyone around me influences how I act, how I dress, and what I believe in. When my peers have such an extensive effect on me it’s hard not to succumb to being like everyone but myself. I often catch myself looking at the way other people do things and wishing that I could be just like them. I catch myself wishing I could dress like another girl or wishing I could have handwriting just like someone else or even wishing I could have the same attitude as someone else. I spend a great amount of time desiring to be like someone else that I think is perfect when I know I should spend that time being myself and embracing the person that I am.…
Love is like a rumor; everyone talks about it yet few truly know the truth. If there is an emotional state that we as humans idealize it is love. However, we want nothing of its dark side and demand that it always hides its flaws. Nonetheless many of us are unprepared for the battles that the heart must be willing to endure in order to take on the emotion of love. Many people fantasize about what it will be like to fall in love and dream about their perfect match. Individuals spend their whole lives so fixated on the love that they might one-day experience that they often forget about the love they are surrounded by every day. The significance level placed on love is extremely high and many people believe that they could not live without it, yet it is also one of the most difficult and complex emotions to sustain.…
