My Neighbour
MY NEIGHBOUR
A good neighbor is a great blessing. He is always with us. Either we are in sorrow or joy, in rain or in shine; he is always by the side of us. He is the first to reach to our help, even before our relatives. A good neighbor always rushes to his neighbor with active help and support.
Last month, we shifted our residence to Shastri Nagar. It is a new government colony mainly inhabited by government’s employees, belonging to different government’s departments and ministries. It is a middle class locality. My next door neighbor is Mr. Chopra. He is a Principal in a government high school. He is a very nice person. He has a small family. His son Ankit reads in class Xth in Model High School. His daughter Nidhi is thirteen years old. She reads in class VIII in Xavier Mary School. In the evening I play cricket with his son. He is a disciplined boy. He is very intelligent. He is very punctual and sincere to his studies. We have good neighbor relations with his family. We often visit each other’s house. If there is any problem with anyone he is the first to turn up for help. His wife is a highly religious lady. She helps the poor and the needy.
Mr. Amphora lives in front of us. He is a police officer. He is 52 years old. He has two sons. One of his sons is an IIT engineer while his other son is a final year medical student. Mr. Amphora is out and out a gentle man. Though he is in police he never shows of his power. He never misuses his power. He is a man of good habits. He often makes us hear interesting stories. He is a law abiding citizen. He always helps the other. His sons are also very decent young men. They are qualified but are very simple and sober. They respect the elders of the family. Mr. Amphora is very cooperative and helpful to his neighbors.
The family who lives next to our left is a middle class family of Mr. Mahakam. Mr. Mahakam is a clerk in Corporation. They do not seem to be familiar with good manners. They do not possess the decorum of

Mr. Kapasi, the interpreter of maladies, has essentially lost the ability to communicate with his wife, leaving him to drink tea alone at night. Because of this the Kapasi’s find themselves in a loveless marriage. This kind of relationship also exists within the Das family. Mr and Mrs Das are unable to efficiently communicate because of the material barrier each has which prevents them from any form of contact. Mrs. Das often hides behind her sunglasses, while Mr. Das is kept away behind his guidebook. Because of the somewhat non-existent relationship between their parents, the Das children are also subject to a lack of communication. Mr and Mrs Das have not communicated the proper manner in which to behave, speak or treat others, thus leading to the disobedience. 6. Neighbor is one who lives next or near to another. Neighbors are bounded by responsibilities – bounded by law and own morals. For me neighbors are like distant friends - even though we might not talk for a while we always know that we are there for each other. I am always willing to help them and they will do the same thing for me. I feel responsible for the safety of my neighbors. We share a community; we live close to each other, so we are somehow responsible for each…

Family relationships change as time passes when the roles and responsibilities for an individual are reversed. The story “A Devoted Son” by Anita Desai demonstrates a relationship between father and son change from one of utmost admiration, devotion and respect to one of resentment and hostility. The son in the story, Rakesh, makes his parents extremely proud by becoming a brilliant doctor, venturing from his run down colony in India to the United States, and receiving distinguished accolades while working in the most prestigious of hospitals. Returning home to live with his parents however, to marry the girl they selected for him and to take care of them, made them more proud than any other feat. Not letting his success affect the morals his parents instilled in him, Rakesh was a great son and always put his parents first. With his success came fortune and fame and as an intensely devoted son he became the most devoted doctor. The change of authority figure from parent to child can have a negative effect on their relationship.…

It fascinated me to write this since I moved in Memphis, Tennessee two months ago. The reason I moved here because I met a guy on conference line. His name is Mek. We were talking on phone almost two-year. one years later he asked me to move his area ,but I told him that I am not ready . We exchanged picture, and I decided to move. He told me that we may marry soon. When I saw him in the airport, my first impression was negative. I who expected wasn’t a person. When I see him, the way he explains to me completely different. He and his friend were greeting me then we reached their home with in thirty minute. People were their home waiting us. Everybody greeted me and ate lunch together. He has lived with his roommates mar and Nur .The first day I noticed that he smoked cigarettes. I can’t stand around with his cigarette smell. He told me that he is on vacation. I figure out he fired from his job. I wasn’t very pleased with his dishonest. He started working night shift after a while. It was Friday morning Nur knocked my room and told me he wanted to talk to me, and then he told me that my friend arrested because he sold beers without checking Identity card. The strange news makes me nervous. I never heard something like this I was eager to find out. I typed his name on my Laptop to check his status. When I saw his picture on criminal record, his strange news outraged me. I saw that he arrested because of sex battler. My heart broke because I believe him what he told me. His worst condition tried to cover the truth with full of lies. His roommate kept saying that he arrested because of beer. The fabrication of his lies makes me uncomfortable, and then I told him that I know the truth. He was nervous and distracted. Nur brought new story that a mother around their neighbors left her daughter’s alone their apartment, and me called her, and gave her a food. Her mother who called a police knocked his…

Although we have different way of living, I am okay with the community. I do not interact with others daily but I know people around as this place is made such a way that it is virtually impossible to avoid each-other. We attend each other’s social events like marriages. But there are many religious occasions of certain neighbors which I am not comfortable with and I don't need to attend them. They do not call either. I have friends from the Newar community who are involved in business. This is a safe place because it is enclosed; there is always someone in the courtyard doing one or the other thing. Resident here has even closed a thoroughfare to make it safer because there were problems of security for some time” It is seen that group difference and neighborly relation is associated with same economic class and personal preference across the cultural groups. A sense of accepting each other’s cultural and religious preference is found in the neighborhood. The organization of built environment and safety is seen associated with his sense of neighborly relation. He described the co-operation between neighbors even when they kept a respected distance, "I was doing business of packaging cumin then and once I had left a lot of cumin on the square for sun drying.
