My observation took place on February 11th, and 24th, 2016. I visited a new a new child care program which opened in November 2016 and is located in Sanford, Maine. This is a new constructed center with three early childhood classrooms. Each classroom has eight children ranging from ages 8 weeks to 36 months; one lead teacher, one assistant teacher, and one floater. The classroom floater is an adult who covers breaks and supports teachers when needed. There a central kitchen with staff that brings food to each classroom for snack and meal time. and ended at 11:30 a.m. All eight children were present, five boys and three girls. As I entered children were involved in free gross/motor play. A climber and trampoline were open. Sam was observed running around the classroom alternating both hands and feet as he moved. He lifted on foot at a time as he climbed on the trampoline and held on to the bar and started jumping up and down, both feet left the trampoline. Sam dismounted from the trampoline and ran alternating both feet and slightly swinging both arms in a forward and back motion. He entered the rug area where the teacher emptied out a bag of large colored soft blocks (6 X6 inches square). While at the rug area Sam joined four peers and one adult that was playing with blocks. Sam bent at the waist and picked up a green block; straightened his body and placed the block on top of his head, looked to his teacher and said “hat”. His teacher mirrored his actions and replied “yes a hat”. Sam then stacked blocks on the other blocks, and continued to stack blocks with his peers. Next he picked up a block with both hands and tossed it into the group, he repeated this action two more times. Sam walked over to two of the blocks, bent down at the waist and placed two blocks close together he stepped up, one foot at time, on each block, balancing and said, "I
